I have heard White Sox fans mention him in the same category as Ramirez. It's amazing how much of his value is based off of 12 games in October.

Maybe Dusty will play the young Reds position players more because they are better prospects then what he had with the Cubs? I'm sorry, but with the exception of Murton, who is criminally underused, how many of our young players were highly rated prospects or have ever shown that they would be good players? Cedeno? DuBois? Pagan? Jay Bruce is a better prospect then any we've had during the Baker era.

You realize that the best players having the best seasons only "win" 9 or ten games a year for their club. Braun would have to be the worst defender ever to cost the Brewers five games.

Care to elaborate on that statement? Dontrelle Willis? Micah Owings? Hell, even Zambrano. If they're a good/better hitter than your 8-spot, why not give them a couple more at bats by moving them up in the lineup? Sure. First off, with all of those guys, their sample size is so small that you can't truely say whether or not they would be good hitters, most of the time, a starting pitcher rarely gets 150 at bats. If any of them were great hitters, they would play in the field instead of pitch. Secondly, if you have a team where you have pitchers that are better then the guy who bats in the 8 hole, you need to fire your GM. LaRussa does stuff like this to make it seem like he is a "brilliant" baseball mind, when in reality it's counter productive.

I can't believe I am saying this but Wood has seem to finally matured and looks a lot more confident. 98 mph is showing a heck of a lot of talent, along with his other pitches. I give Marmol his due but I see him as one more year and more more pitch away from that position. If he would have been a kid with a background as a pitcher I think he would be ready now. It has also worked out to his advantage as far as injuries to that arm. Good to be in this delema There are loads of effective relievers with only two good pitches, I think Marmol should get the nod, the only disaster that could come of this is if Lou chooses Howry.
