Get to see Dempster today in person, and it would be my guess that there will be a lot of subs starting in the field today. Ofcourse for the first spring training game I get to see.but I will be there tomorrow as well.

wrong...but i'm sure you're not disappointed given that you get to see most of the starters today.

A CF hitting leadoff? Are you sure? Lou explicitly said they had no other choice but to hit the CF 8th.

As always, thanks to Bruce.

I am kinda rooting for the Cubs to suck here offensively, because it would be an absolutely stupid move to hit Fuku and his high OBP 5th, and Soriano and his low OBP 2nd. I mean completely backwards.

It really does seem like Lou is trying to prepare Soriano for a Cubs lineup with Brian Roberts. That's two different players now at lead off (I know, I know, Theriot is sitting) with Soriano elsewhere in the lineup, plus the recent reports coming out about the Cubs offer... Seems like something is close, or at least, they're preparing for it like they expect it to happen.

Lou probably doesn't want Roberts back to back with Fuku and probably doesn't want to "insult" Lee by moving him to the 2 spot.

Does Roberts and Fuko back to back thing even come into play (as far as Lou's whole hangup with the pitching changes later in the game), seeing as how Roberts is a switch hitter (though he is much better as a lefty)?

Sorry, guys. I went with the cubs.com link that was posted. The spring training broadcast info has always been a bit iffy.

Top 1

Izturis grounds 4-3

Kendrick flies to right

Guerrero grounds 6-3 as Cintron bounces the ball to Lee at first

Dempster: 6 pitches, 5 strikes

I could live with this kind of production...

(BTW..thanks again for the updates Bruce)
