From MLBtraderumors.com:

News comes today that Blue Jays pitcher Casey Janssen will miss the season with a torn labrum. He was a bullpen ace last year, and was expected to move back to the rotation this year.

Robert MacLeod's above-linked article quotes Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi saying he might explore the trade market in the wake of the injury.

Looking at what the Blue Jays have that we could use, how about:

Marquis/Marshall + Murton for Reed Johnson + Scott Downs

Might need to be tweaked a little, but Reed Johnson offers a right-handed bat that can play CF (64 games) with these numbers against lefties: .305 (BA), .380 (OBP), .451 (SLG), and .831 (OBS). Also an important point, not really a threat to take over Pie's job. Scott Downs gives us a second lefty in the pen.

reed johnson would look great in CF behind mark reynolds at SS. our pitching staff sure could use the extra challenge.

That's why I emphasized that he wouldn't be a threat to take Pie's job. He could play maybe once a week against a tough lefty.

No! the guy that backs up Pie needs to be awesome defensively as well as being able to hit because guys like that are a dime a dozen. Besides, the Cubs have a long and storied tradition of never running a guy out to CF that wasn't all that great defensively.

If the guy could hit and be awesome defensively, he would be the starting CF as soon as Pie hits his first slump. I want a guy that will not be a threat to Pie's job and future. If Pie proves a flop, then go out and get a starting CF.

The Jack of All (Unrealistic) Trades: His forte is a never-ending stream of trade proposals that would get him laughed off the screen in his Madden franchise, let alone real life. Go ahead and tell him how absurd his ideas are- he'll just be back with another ridiculous one before the day is through.

FalconFanSinceVanBrocklin: Look, we need a quarterback, and after Asante Samuel bolts, the Pats are going to need a shutdown corner. If we package DeAngelo Hall and, say, one of our second-round picks, that should be enough to pry Brady away from NE. Cassel is thoroughly marinated in McDaniels' system and should be ready to start. We can pull this off IMO. Thoughts?

Omigod.........Hall and a 2nd for Brady? I feel Brady is overrated, but even then that is not a good enough package to pry Brady away NE. That Falcon fan needs to stop hanging out druggies, cause he's delusional.

The best part of this deal that doesn't involve dumping Marquis, is getting Scott Downs back.

I was at this game (http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200006020.shtml) and boy did I love him after that.

My god looking at that lineup is just brutal. As much as Hendry and the Cubs take a beating I am sure glad those days are gone.

I laughed at Buford's name, but then I saw he was above .290 with 10 HRs at the start of June. I really don't recall EVER getting that of production out of him!

My favorite part is that the guy with the .423 OPS is hitting 2nd. I'm not going to make any snide comments about Theriot for the rest of the day.

I could have shut out that Tigers team for 7 2/3. Brad Ausmus led off for the Tigers in 2000? And I thought EY was bad.

No kidding, jesus, that's terrible.

Also, lol @ damon Buford. I almost forgot he existed.
