I dont get why they make a big deal about it. Where they come from, its a perfectly legal and perfectly normal thing to do.

Since they play baseball in the US, they have to abide by our laws even when they're not in the country? It doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

Why is it no big deal if people like Aramis take part in [expletive] fighting and Michael Vick is massacred for dog fighting?

I realize the differences, the legal issue, the fact that Vick was the ringleader in his case, but to say 'who cares' to cockfighting ignores the issue of why these 'sports' are illegal in the US - they are inhumane.

I realize your point, but come on man, we EAT chickens. We don't eat fried dog... I'd also place the mental capacity of pit bulls just a bit ahead of a chicken...

Yup. I mean, where do we draw the line? Stomping on ants (or frying em for fun with a magnifying glass) is inhumane, too.

Jules: I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Vincent: Ah, so by that rationale, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?

Jules: Well we'd have to be talkin' about one charmin' pig. I mean he'd have to be ten times more charmin' than that Arnold on Green Acres, you know what I'm sayin'?

The difference in the two is that Aramis, Pedro and/or whoever else was involved, wouldn't be facing jail time, assuming they were participating where it's legal. Does it put him in a good light? No. Is it an inhumane entertainment choice? Yes. Does it give his detractors something else to complain about? Yes. But in the long run, it's really not that big of a deal.

If it were shown that there's a big ring of Latin American ballplayers running cockfighting here in the US, then yes, it would, and should, turn into a big deal. But since I've seen nothing that even suggests that is a possibility, then no big deal.

BTW, I'd love for countries that allow fighting ( and the betting on) of any kind of animals, including bullfighting, to see just how distgusting of an activity it is and ban all of it. But I'm not going to crucify any of the people involved for doing something that's legal where they were participating. I wouldn't have crucified Vick if he had participated in dog fighting in a place where it's legal.

Would you blast someone for going to Amsterdam and doing something that's legal there, if they didn't bring those activities back with them to the US?

This proves that in addition to folding under pressure, he's an inhumane arse. Now I can root for the Cubs to trade him for another third baseman.

I can't tell if this is serious or an attempt at trolling for responses.

If this isn't sarcasm, who would you suggest they get? Cause the only ones better than him, and there aren't many, aren't going anywhere for a long, long time.
