Jones apparently really wants to be here (judging by his comment in the article). I don't see a reason not to at least bring him to camp.

Personally I'm not impressed with Wolfe. He wasn't nearly as quick as I thought he would be. I have severe doubts he's going to provide that "change of pace" that the Bears want him for. I definitely wouldn't automatically give him a roster spot on this football team without any competition.

Yeah, but you aren't part of the group of "teachers" that pushed hard to reach for him in the draft. I would be surprised if they didn't give Wolfe a spot this year.

Oh to hell with it just snap the ball directly to Hester. All problems solved

They did once yesterday at OTA's. The players had all swapped jerseys, and Grossman and Hester swapped...so for one play, Hester played QB.

That's a good idea, nobody will ever be able to tell them apart! The WR and QB on my highschool team switched jerseys for one game and we spent all game laughing everytime the PA guy said their names backwards. Sad when this is still funny in the 4th quarter of a game we lost.

Bears extend Tommie Harris for 4yr/40mil.

Wow. Sweet. $18Mil guaranteed. Highest paid DT in NFL history. If he's even 90% healthy, he's worth it.

every dt that signs a contract is the highest paid dt in league history for a while, though.

same goes for every other position. regardless of how high he is paid over the next year or 2, he will doubtless require a renegotiation. but that said, this is very good news.

Harris has done everything asked of him and more. I like it when we take care of our productive players.

Single game tickets go on sale July 12th...anyone think they have a good method of getting tickets?

I'm planning on making another thread about it a week or so before. They won't be quite as hard to get as last year, so getting them online may be an option, but the best bet will once again be using the automated national Ticketmaster phone. Even though checkout takes 10 minutes or so, you can then go back in and still pull up tickets for a different game. It may take a minute or two of quickly retrying your requests (it takes about 5 seconds once you know what buttons to push without listening to the menu), but it has worked great for me the last few years.

Posted

So you don't talk to a person? Because since I don't really care where I sit, I'd just like to be not behind the glass with 4 tickets...

Anyway, I'll look forward to the thread.

Correct. You wouldn't use the regular phone numbers, as you'd never get through on those, but rather their national automated line. Here's the thread I made last year.

I'll make a few changes. The key is that you call in 20 minutes or so before noon and figure out a way to keep the menus repeating so you don't get disconnected. You'll end up not having the easy access to the games with a quick menu, so you'd have to actually speak the name and date of the event. It's their "Kelly" automated system. It takes longer, but it's by far your best bet. And as I said before, if it says there are no more tickets for the event you selected, you can try again in the matter of 5 seconds. I've done that for a minute or two and ended up with the seats and quantity that I wanted. And that's 15-20 minutes AFTER tickets went on sale. I've gotten 4 tickets to 2 games each of the last three years through the automated line. When you try through Ticketmaster.com, even if you get your request in right away, you'll most likely come up empty.

Not really an analysis of the Bears per se, however, yahoo explains just how worthless Bears offensive players are for fantasy purposes.

This just reinforces what we already know, the Bears are only going to go as far as the defense takes them, they will need outstanding contributions from the young guys to have any semblence of an offense, and any success this year will be viewed as a major surprise.

The over/under for wins is actually 8. I could see them falling apart into a 4 win team, with the possibility they have an historically bad offense. On the upside maybe they score at league average and pull off a miraculous 9-10 win season.

Third-round pick Marcus Harrison is on the verge of signing a four-year deal with the Bears, an NFL source said Monday. The deal is expected to be finalized within the next 24 hours.

Bears sign additional picks, but top two still without deals

By Vaughn McClure, 12:34 p.m.

The Bears signed third-round pick Marcus Harrison, and agreed to terms with fellow third-rounder Earl Bennett and fifth-round pick Zak Bowman. All are four-year deals.

Harrison, a defensive tackle from Arkansas, is expected to provide insurance behind Tommie Harris on the defensive line. Bennett, a receiver from Vanderbilt, could crack the top three of the receiving corps. Bowman, a defensive back from Nebraska, only dropped in the draft because of knee injuries.

The Bears have yet to sign top pick Chris Williams, the defensive tackle from Vanderbillt, or running back Matt Forte, the second-round pick out of Tulane. Both are projected to be starters this coming season.

Why Angelo won't take a chance on a guy like Kevin Jones is absurd. Going into the season with a 2nd round rookie, Adrian Petrerson(the bad one), and Garret Wolfe, is beyond stupid. Jerry Angelo has been a terribe GM since the SB loss.

Yeah I read that, the Bears offense is going to be REALLY bad this year.

Maybe you can believe then that he had a very poor draft, traded Thomas Jones giving the job to a RB who had been injured in each of his 1st 2 years the starting job w/ no competition, didn't upgrade on an aging offensive line, didn't upgrade at a weak WR position, signed Adam Archuleta and traded Chris Harris to downgrade the S position, refused to address the weak QB position....

I know injuries played a big part, but don't act like Angelo was powerless. The Bears clearly had some minor patchwork to be done in last year's offseason in order to stay on top of the NFC and Angelo didn't do it. I don't blame him for the Jones trade and not even the QB position, though he did replace Jones by overdrafting Wolfe. But getting Archuleta, letting Moose age in front of his eyes and not doing anything about it, and staying pat with an old, mediocre line are inexcusable moves.

Simply put, if Angelo held onto Harris (who became a pretty good S in Carolina), drafted an OT in the 2nd round instead of a DE who didn't see the field (and never projected to see it much in the first place), and brought in another legit WR threat...the Bears would be in a lot better position to compete this year.
