I love that Pryor did not sign, it is ridiculous be forced to choose, esp. being that good.

you love that the top recruit in the nation didn't sign on National signing day? yeah, that's the kid I want...the one who is 18 and already doesn't want to play by the rules because he thinks he's too good for him.

yeah, he won't hold out of NFL camp in 3 years for a huge contract or anything.

Hey Tyrelle, maybe you'd heard of Maurice Clarett? learn from the past

As an 18 year old did you know what you wanted to do? I am 47 and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Don't you love a little of the anti-establishemnt attitude? Could he have been busy with school and life? If he is that good he can be a walk-on anywhere. I suspect it that Penn State anticipation you are having. My dad is the same way about the Lions.

Joe Adams, I wish you'd make up your mind faster. You're the only reason I care about tomorrow.

LA Daily News says he signed with Arkansas.

He's still "playing by the rules" if he doesn't sign today. Today is just the first day you can sign.

DE Datone Jones picks UCLA over Oregon and ASU. Jon should be happy, Martin Bayless picked Northwestern. Detroit DE Nick Perry switched from Michigan to USC today.

Darrell Scott to announce in 40 minutes.

Any word on whether Knox is sticking w/ you guys or coming over to the good side?

ND kept all of its verbals and added KLM, as Andy mentioned above. Much better than last year.

Getting Bayless is a great way to finish off the class. It was rumored that he had decided on Northwestern over Ohio State, Florida, Cal, and UCLA for a little over a week now, but I was getting nervous. He has some great skills as a DB, but I'd have to imagine he'll play WR for us.

The only letter Fitz hasn't received yet is from Quentin Williams, who verballed to NU last week after narrowing his choices down to us and Stanford. He will be another big get for us.

Knox has made his decision but will only announce on at 4 pm PT (on FSN Los Angeles). The UCLA beat writer for the Daily News said his UCLA sources "felt good" about Knox. It's going to be tough to get UCLA updates from here as all 3 of the local beat writers are on they are on the way to Pullman for the Washington basketball games.

My day now sucks! A complete thumping of Mexico tonight will fix that though.

Quentin Williams is in and Fitz just wrapped up a very nice class. He picked NU over some other nice programs that wanted him as a LB. It came down to us and Stanford since both schools would let him play TE.

Or it could be that hes an 18 year old kid, trying to make the biggest decision in his life so far, and hes still undecided. But I guess that would just be absurd and arrogant of him.

then why have a National Signing Day?

To let HS kids have a start date to sign with schools.

Illinois is ranked 18 by Scout.com:

Headliners: A.J. Jenkins (WR), Reggie Ellis (DT)

Ron Zook is at it again and you can bet that as long as he’s in charge of this program that they will be a fixture in the top 20 recruiting rankings. The Illini grabbed a solid signal caller from the south in Jacob Charest (QB) and some quality backs in Mikel Leshoure, Jason Ford and Deries Hodge. They also landed some top flight players on the edge in A.J. Jenkins (WR) and Cordale Scott (WR). They should compliment Arrelious Benn very nicely in Champaign. Hubie Graham should develop into a quality tight end. Across the offensive front, Illinois is bringing in four OLs, including one of the better tackle prospects from the Midwest in Graham Pocic. Reggie Ellis (DT), Corey Liuget (DE) and Glenn Foster (DE) lead this defensive class. Donsay Hardemann (S) is one of the top JuCo defensive backs in the nation. Illinois would love to close with Jamie Harper (RB) away from the Sunshine State.

If Zook manages to pull Harper to Illinois I'd be blown away. He visited Illinois early before any other school, but he's also visited Miami and Florida State.

His scouting report:

Jamie Harper has good size and if he doesn’t blow by you he can run through you or make you miss. He runs with power, finishes runs and has a good stiff arm. He shows excellent quickness, hips, feet and the ability to make a defender look silly in the open field. Harper has good vision, balance and instincts and can stop on a dime and show extraordinary change of direction and athleticism. Harper has blazing speed and is so explosive.

He runs a 4.35 40! I'd call that blazing speed.

I can't wait until Wednesday to see what he decides. He'd get every opportunity to play right away at Illinois. That's got to be a big plus to Zook's pitch.

While I would love to see Harper at FSU, IMO he's headed to Clemson. Or at least that's what I've heard from my sources at FSU.

I know Clemson is a big player too. Honestly, I think he'll go to Illinois or Clemson. I'd be surprised if he went anywhere else. I'm crossing my fingers for Illinois. That would cap another great year recruiting for Zook.

two words that iowa fans will know: jason ford.

he's not as highly rated as harper, but imo, he's just as good, thicker and just as fast.

oh, and the illini get liuget!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take that lsu.

I thought it was THE day to sign, not the start. My apologies

RB Mike Shaw de-commits from Penn State, signs with Michigan. Clemson and Arkansas look to be doing a good job today.

Yes, Jason Ford could be very good, but I highly doubt he will be as good as Harper.

Rich Rodriguez does well for himself today, better than i though the would. Nabs 3* 4 star commits one from PSU, one from Purdue and another from Florida. In total he accumated 5 4 star players who were pretty much his recruits. 2 WRs that are less than 170lbs, a 246lb OL, not exactly common at UM. Pryor says he was too busy with other things, but yet he was always taking to media outlets about his recruiting process. His dad doesnt want him to go to OSU, he probably does, thats why i think he's putting off the decision.

McGuffie is rumored to be wavering, although another UM committ spoke today and said hes still going to AA.

Minnesota put together a nice class this year for themselves.

Ohio State doesnt reel in a big surprises today, although they still did well. 3 awesome OL recruits.

For all the crap (some deserved, some not) that Charlie Weis received for his "new definition of commitment" after last year's fiasco, it worked brilliantly. 24 verbals and only one defector, quickly replaced by Lewis-Moore. I've seen plenty of articles mentioning that the 23 are excited to turn ND around and have talked to each other a lot this last year. It'll be fun to watch.

Let's hope for 24. Milton Knox

FSU is having a big year. Great class, and several big fish still out there that we have a chance at, including Julio Jones (and possibly Robert Lester), Josh Jenkins, TJ Bryant, and Corey Liuget.

This could be a class that FINALLY gets us back to the upper echelon of college football.

Yeah....you can forget about Julio Jones. He's been a virtual lock to Alabama since the Alabama/Arkansas game. There's less then a 5% chances that Jones signs with any team not name Alabama come tomorrow. And it's even less for Robert Lester. FSU fans can forget Jones/Lester as FSU was never consider a "strong" possibility for either kid. And TJ Bryant, well the rumor around my neck of the words...if that TJ will be a surprise commit to Alabama. I don't buy the rumor, as I believe he'll end up at FSU. Which is might as well, seeing as Saban viewed both Alonzo Lawrence and Robby Green as higher priorities then Bryant.

Not to burst your bubble, but Jones has visited FSU more than any other school. Lester has made several unofficial visits to FSU without anyone knowing (I have this confirmed through ex-players).

All signs point to Lester going where Julio goes as a package deal.

But we'll find out around noon.

Well, fiddlesticks. Julio & Lester to Bama. I think FSU screwed the pooch on this one based on what I just heard.

Evidently Julio was a silent to FSU as of his official visit. Lester would have come with him, but he wasn't ever shipped an official scholarship - both FSU and Lester weren't convinced that either had serious interest in the other.

Due to this, Julio said I'll stay home. Doesn't hurt that his mom basically said you're staying here in Bama, either. Mom always knows best.

Mizzou got LOIs from all 23 of their commits, there's still a schollie open if someone wants to surprise them.

Good good good.

Hopefully we can get one last solid commit to fill that spot. I'm still bummed we didn't land Compton :(

there shouldn't be one, students and schools should have the freedom to decide rather than being dictated by the NCAA

Bah, Hamani Stevens picked Oregon over UCLA. This is a great recruiting class at the skill positions (esp. if Knox comes on board) but the trenches are deseperately lacking, especially considering the lack of depth on the defensive line and the lack of, umm, good players on the OL.
Posted
No surprises for LSU. We didn't pick up anything, but all of our commits submitted LOI's. Looks like we're guaranteed a top 15 class, top five according to Scout.com, but I don't trust them. Rivals has us at 11.
