He's really reminding me of Jerry Krause.

How the hell is the player pulled from his winter league team in a championship game and informed that he's headed to Baltimore for a physical when there is no deal?

Maybe the "insiders" weren't so full of crap, after all, and the miscommunication has got more to do with the incompetence run amok in that front office...

Sometime in June 2008:

Reporter: Andy, you made a lot of big moves in the offseason and they appear to be paying off. Yesterday Adam Jones went 4-5 with 2 HRs in a big win over the Yankees. While the team still has away to go before contending, you have to be pleased with trading Erik Bedard, Bri-

MacPhail: No I didn't.

Reporter: What?

MacPhail: No trades we're made, what are you talking about?

Reporter: .....Bedard you traded him to the Mariners for a package of yo-

MacPhail: No I didn't, he's right over there

Reporter: Mr. MacPhail, thats Melvin Mora......Anyways, Adam Jones has continued to rake at the big league level, hitting .289 with 13 home runs so far this season. Andy, how much of that is attributed to your coaching staff getting him prepared for the major league level?

MacPhail: I really don't think I should be talking about other team's prospects. Look when Seattle comes to town next week we'll discuss him.

Reporter: ...........

Ronny Cedeno (walking by): Eyyyy, Mr. MacPhail, we need to talk about my playing time.

MacPhail: Your playing time? Son, your quite a batboy, but you need to be a little older before you can get some game action (chuckles). Now go help Mr. Roberts over there with his B-12 injections.

No, I'm pretty sure the insiders were full of crap.

I really can't figure out for the life of me why I even bother trying to figure out what's going on in baltimore right now.

I don't see MacPhail winning over other GM's with his denials...that is, if deals are in place. It seems as though Angelo has MacPhail by the balls.

"As I said last night, we don't have an agreement with Seattle or any other team," he said. "I'm not expecting anything in the next few days and I'd be surprised if anything developed in the next few days."

I guess we all know that MacPhail learn his "GM's skills" from watching the old "Abbott and Costello: Who's on first" routine.

I would kill myself if I were an Orioles fan. Angelos is a joke. The guy has to have his nose in everything. The Orioles aren't going to have a fan base left if he keeps up these antics.

Here is the interesting part of the Rosenthal speculation piece for me.

The Orioles' trade of Bedard would signal a major reconstruction. Another significant deal involving second baseman Brian Roberts likely would follow. The Cubs remain heavily interested in Roberts, and the Orioles could receive prospects such as pitcher Sean Gallagher and outfielder Felix Pie or veterans such as RHP Jason Marquis and outfielder Matt Murton.

Marquis and Murton for Roberts? Where do I sign.

But, unfortunately, its all just guess work on Rosenthal's part. He's just throwing stuff out there...

Now Rosenthal is implying the deal is on hold or perhaps off.

If it's true, and there's no way to be sure if it is, that Angelos may kill this deal and that he killed the deal the Cubs had for Roberts, there's going to come a time where teams may be reluctant to deal with the Orioles because they may fear they are just wasting their time.
