  1. I think you would need to split up the lefties. Especially when you play a team like the Brewers who only have one lefty in an already suspect bullpen.
  2. Whether people like Pie right now or not. Now is the time to give him his chance to establish himself as an MLB center fielder. If he fails, the Cubs will be able to make a trade to fix the position. Pie is a capable defensive outfielder. If he ends up not being able to hit there are options available. I think it's time to see if all the hype can come to fruition.
  3. First I'd like to say that I hope DeRosa gets up and running soon and that his heart no longer gives him any trouble. But with what has happened to him do you think that Hendry might start to cave a little bit in the Roberts talks in order to bring him in?
  4. So yer saying this thread will continue unless Elsa crosses the seal? Yes. And remember: Only the penitent man will pass. Little known fact: in Latin "Brian Roberts" starts with an "I". This might be my favorite sub-thread in this entire thread.
  5. Someone on Orioles Hangout said that Pie wasn't in the deal. I think he had a source too, but I'm too lazy to check. If it was 2 for 1 without Pie, maybe its Gallagher/Colvin. Sources cannot be trusted these days. I am probably more willing to accept someones opinion as truth before a rumor some guy heard from one of this sources.
  6. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080130&content_id=2360377&vkey=hotstove2007&fext=.jsp&partnered=rss_mlb The Birds are trying a last ditch attempt to sign him for five years....which would be monumentally stupid. The "last minute ditch" to re-sign Bedard....is that the O's way of trying to save face for when they do trade Bedard? First off, the Orioles will stop negotiations with Bedard because the media caught wind of it. Second, the O's don't have enough brains to concoct some sort of plan to try and save face...that's just giving MacAngelos too much credit.
  7. The Orioles might be the dumbest organization in all of sports.
  8. It wasn't a steep price to pay for Santana at all. But how much do they really expect to get when they've already exhausted the Yankees and Red Sox bid war for him? And then to have to trade him to a team that is able to sign him to an outrageous long term deal before the trade is finalized.
  9. I don't see MacPhail winning over other GM's with his denials...that is, if deals are in place. It seems as though Angelo has MacPhail by the balls.
