And to an NL team:

Brian N. Anderson-OF- White Sox Jan. 28 - 1:39 pm et

The Chicago Sun-Times believes that Brian Anderson is on his way to a National League team in a trade.

It's for the best. Possible destinations for Anderson include the Pirates, Marlins, Cubs, Padres, Reds and Braves. We wouldn't rule out the Nationals, either, just because Jim Bowden can never have enough outfielders.

Righty half of a platoon with Pie? He sucked against lefties in '06, and minorleaguesplits.com gives me little help, but I'd have to assume like most righties he's better against lefties, and his minor league #s would make you think he could put up decent enough #s against them in the majors. The defensive drop off if any from Pie should be minimal.

I would support that move, I've always liked Anderson, he does have some growing up to do as well as dedicating himself to the game to take that next step, but if they do platoon him, I like concept of getting him cheap with a higher ceiling than what they give up.

It's worth a shot.

Ping brings up a good point. Ronny and Brian would need to stay away from each other and have 10:00 bedtimes.

I haven't heard anything about Cedeno having trouble with partying.

I seen him with Brandon McCarthy one night last year at a bar called Bourbon Street over on the southside..He was wearing sum '89 Reebok Pumps and some tight Wrangler jeans with holes in them..Awsome how a ballplayer who makes cash dresses so classy...Still the chicks were all over him because he's a Sox player obviously..If he dedicated himself to baseball instead of drinking every night maybe he could make something of himself

IIRC, Bruce confirmed that he was having a bit too much fun on Rush street.

Brian Anderson seems on the surface to be a very similar player to Felix Pie (albeit a couple years older). How do their minor league numbers compare?

Pie:

They're diff. players.

Pie will likely hit for a higher avg., Anderson will hit for more pop, both are good defensively in CF (heck, that's why Anderson stuck around for so long in '06), Pie has more range and a better arm, but both are above avg. defensively.

Anderson needs a new situation, that doghouse (which is his fault) isn't one he can get out of on the South Side. He still has to learn how to hit good breaking balls from RH'ers but he has tools to do so, just has to show if he has the desire to rather than the perception of a 1st round prima-donna.

Pretty much what I was thinking of though I didn't notice what he was wearing. McCarthy and Anderson were a big hit with the hooded sweatshirt crowd.

i love that the cliche with chicago ballplayers is "too much fun on Rush St." when Rush St. is about the 127th coolest street to go have fun on

When I saw him at RFK when the Cubs played the Nationals in 2006 during pre-game warmups, there were a couple of comely young women calling out to him from the field level seats nearest him, talking like they had very much enjoyed the festivites the night before.

Well, if Anderson likes to party, it's probably not a good idea for him to play a lot of day games (with the Cubs) -- he'd play too many, ahem, night games.
