BTW, this story was published yesterday. Last night, another 3-6 inches of rain was dumped on Bloomington. That's not a typo either..some areas in Central Indiana received 10 inches of rain since midnight. 4 counties are under a state of emergency and the roads are designated emergency vehicles only. So I can't imagine what the field looks like now.

Losing Alexander sucks, but I have enough faith that Perry or Andrew Jones impresses to pick up his slack. Alexander was actually a 3rd target anyway, behind Maclin and Coffman, and we still have Saunders around as a possession WR. Maybe someone like Kemp, Egnew, or Woodland can seize the opportunity now, like Alexander and Perry did with Maclin's redshirt.

Hopefully you're right, but in my eyes Danario is Maclin with height. I think Danario was really going to break out this year as the obvious #1 on the team. Hopefully someone steps in enough so we don't feel like we have to rush Alexander back, but it'd be huge if we had him back for Texas.

Sad news out of Minnesota as incoming freshman Sam Maresh has to undergo open heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect that was discovered last week.

Hopefully they caught it soon enough.

BREAKING NEWS: Duke Football sucks and knows it

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3455278

A Kentucky judge has confirmed what Duke fans have known for years: their football team is as bad as it gets.

Bad enough that Louisville should have to find another football team to replace the Blue Devils without penalty after Duke pulled out of the final three games of a four-game contract last season.

In a lawsuit filed late last year, Louisville asked for $450,000 in damages and any additional damages the court saw fit.

But Duke's lawyers argued that the Blue Devils' performance on the field was so poor that any Division I team would suffice as a replacement. Duke is 6-45 over the past five years, 13-90 since 1999.

I've heard through the grapevine that Coach K is going to schedule the Duke football team once this Louisville thing is resolved. Of course, it'll be a home game.

my next door neighbor is already talking smack about tOSU going undefeated. it's going to be a long fall

They play in an easy conference but they have to get by USC first.

They also play in Illinois against what will be an improved Illini squad, and they had no answers for them last year at the horseshoe...

The game @ Wisconsin will not be easy either.

without Mendenhall you will not be improved. You should still be good but you lost a premier RB and those don't come along all to often.

"You" will not be improved? :rotfl:

Thanks, but I'm probably 500 miles away from Champaign and never attended the school. I think you're forgetting that much of the roster OUTSIDE of Mendenhall were young, up & coming players last year who will now be coming of age. Mendenhall will be difficult to replace, but there are alot of other areas the Illini will be improved.

It's not going to be an easy game for OSU, trust me. And going into Camp Randall is never easy for any team, especially mid-season which is usually when Wisconsin starts turning it on.

I don't think CubbieBum is a Buckeye fan.

Also, Illinois lost it's best player on both sides of the ball. Even with maturity from younger players, that's difficult to replace. Especially when Mendenhall helped take a lot of pressure off Williams and his arm. With a lesser back, Juice is going to have to make better throws, more often. If he can't, U of I isn't going to score much.

Nope hate the Buckeyes, grew up in West Lafayette.

And you said essentially what I was implying. Sure Illinois hasn't lost a lot of players but they lost a lot in the players they lost. A good example of this is Purude in 2005. They only lost 3 or 4 starters total from 2004 but among them was Orton, Stubblefield and Rogers (top corner). That year Purdue had it's only losing season in 11 years with tiller.

College teams lose players all the time. It's kind of how it works.

I think you are in for a suprise with Illinois. But, who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

Didn't Zook have another good recruiting year? I'm sure he has some nice freshman coming in and it'll depend on how quickly they adapt to the speed of the college game.

He always has good recruiting years. I think people are forgetting this. They've got a ton of fresh blood on that team. You're right, alot will depend on how they adapt. They've got several pieces that were nothing but younguns last year too though, and will now be more mature college ballplayers.

The talent train @ Illinois is quite impressive right now. Every college team loses players. The good programs that keep bringing in talent are the ones that survive. Remember, Ohio State wasn't supposed to be much last year because all their players left, too. They wound up in the National Championship game, because they've got the program that keeps brining in the talent.

Also, a heinous schedule and no conference championship game.

If they go to the NC game again this year and get killed, something is going to have to be done about it.
