I don't think his former prospect status merits additional respect but his ability to play 1B/3B and provide an add. LH'ed stick with pop will get him a shot.

he had a high k-rate in the minors, which was concerning, but he balanced that out with a pretty high walk rate as well. then he hit the big leagues and forgot how to draw a walk.

Even in 2006 in the minors through 56 games he had a down year batting .250 with a .307 OBP, he still managed to put up a .903 OPS. That's pretty impressive.

I totally agree. He's never had more than 219 PA's in a season in the bigs. Talk about frustrating for a player ranked so highly. He just strikes out soooo much.

That's a great deal for them. If he starts to perform, he'll be great for them until they trade him.
