I think we've established that:

A.) Kansas is not a top ten team, much less a top five. Probably a 15-25 at best team.

B.) Florida is a top ten team, probably top six or seven.

Mizzou ought to be in the 5-10 range. Honestly, USC or LSU should be #1

no one cares about florida, they lost to two mediocre teams, they are not even close to top six or seven. besides, this is a thread about mizzou and kansas.

anyway, if kansas hadnt choked in the red zone so bad early this would be a very good game right now

Yeah, if we hit those FGs would be an 8 point game, but Mizzou clearly appears to be the better team regardless. They appear to be a top 10-15 team at best.

You have to understand at least some of the skepticism here. KU is a team with a long and illustrious history of being really bad. They are a team who has played, let's face it, next to nobody this year. And suddenly they're the second best team in the nation?

And Mizzou hasn't played anyone either. Heck, their "marquee" win this year (prior to tonight) was probably the Illinois game, which was a fight. That's not saying much.

We'll know more about how good these teams are after the Big 12 championship, or maybe after the bowl games.

Exactly. This game has been MUCH closer than the score has indicated. Too bad KU doesn't have a kicker. It would be a one possession game right now.

Come on...get a couple of stops.

I completely disagree. Mizzou has looked like a much better team all evening.

I agree that Missouri has looked better, but KU hasn't looked too bad on offense this game. They've moved the ball down the field on almost every drive. Unfortunately, they have an idiot at kicker and their offense goes to crap when the ball goes inside the 20. Missouri is the better team, but it hasn't been a complete mismatch.

i totally understand the skepticism.

But I also think we're a better team than what we've shown. This game is pretty much worst case scenario for us as an offensive team. TOs and missed FGs. Much of that is due to the MU defense. (The TOs especially.) But the missed FGs were just choke jobs. If we hit those, we look like a much better team.

But Mizzou is better. We can't stop them.

Yeah, Kansas hasn't been able to stop Daniel at all tonight (35-43, 309) or the whole offense for that matter. Misssouri has outgained Kansas 456 to 285 and has been able to get a good running game going while Kansas hasn't.

Mizzou better beat Oklahoma in the rematch. I don't want to see OSU get blitzed in the national title game for the 2nd year in a row - and make no mistake WVU would destroy them.

They've moved the ball down field, but they've had the refs on their side all night. Mizzou is 2nd best in the nation in penalty yards. Tonight we've been penalized for 130 yards while kU has been penalized for 25.

is it just me, or does daniel stand farther away from the center than any quarterback who's ever taken a shotgun snap? he's like 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

I have wondered the same thing. Definitely couldn't argue against its effectiveness, however.

not arguing that, takes people longer to sack him, i guess.

The Kansas offense has woken up in the second half.

Now it all comes down to their defense.

every one of those penalties have been the correct call, dude.

I want to see Ohio State in the title game for two reasons.

1. To get embarassed by West Virginia

2. Illinois would make the Rose Bowl if Ohio State makes the title game.

Sounds good to me.

for us illini fans, it doesn't matter who wins this game, right? as long as oklahoma smokes either of them in the big 12 championship.

No. What about the first one of the game, where your cornerback shoved Will Franklin and Will was then given an unsportsmanlike conduct for shoving him back? Or more recently, when (I forget who it was) was given the same penalty for flipping the ball towards your defender after said defender shoved him? And what about the pass interference call that went against us (which was the right call) only to have your defender slam into Maclin on the very next series with no flag?

Posted

I will give kU credit for keeping Maclin in check most of the night though.

And Mizzou called a timeout prior to the kickoff? What?

If Mizzou wins, it strengthens Illinois' schedule for a possible BCS at large berth (this is assuming something wacky doesn't happen like BC or Tennessee winning their conference title, that would pretty much eliminate Illinois) in the event that Mizzou beats Oklahoma and plays against WVU (who isn't losing to Pitt).

the penalties called were all correct. Talib baited the guy. He got caught responding. The guy flipped the ball at another team's player right in front of a ref. They're gonna call that. They should have called PI on the Maclin play, so they missed it. But the plays they've called were correct.

Talib baited him? Haha, okay. Well then Franklin "baited" him back, and got penalized for it. Come on man, are you serious?

That behind the QB cam on the pass to Maclin gives you a microcosm of Kansas' awful coverage all night. Maclin wasn't even the most open receiver down the field.

Dude, the "retaliator" has been getting flagged for stuff like that since the dawn of football. If they'd seen talib, they would've flagged him. i'm assuming they didn't see him.
