For real, come back to me when he does something more exciting. Sex with an underage girl, Coke...something worth while.

All at the same time.

I can't believe everyone is giving this guy a pass. Do you realize how many steroids Jeter could purchase on the money he saved in avoiding his taxes?

It wasn't nearly as fun as you'd think. Trust me.

He kept shouting "A-Rod ShmA-ROD! I'm king of the world!"

It got old fast.

And then he started screaming "WHO'S THE SHORTSTOP BITCH? WHO'S THE SHORTSTOP?" Tacky if you ask me...

Then Oscar de la Hoya showed up in drag and it just got wierd.

The problem is he has residences in both places. NY wants their tax money. He is trying to be like the indians that make big money from the casinos and keep a house on the reservation (thereby avoid paying income tax) but still have mansions elsewhere. He is going to pay something to make this go away.

I believe Jeter's response is that he's a Florida resident?

Does he still pay taxes in NY if he's a FL resident?

I believe so since he earned his income in New York. States with a state income tax generally have a nonresident/partial year resident tax return for people who earn income in that state but live in another state some or all year.

Aren't Steinbrenner's HQ also in Tampa? If the employer and the employee are both Florida residents doesn't that somehow matter?

His personal offices may be in Tampa, but the Yanks home offices are at the stadium. Technically Jeter is employed in New York but claims residence in Florida. There is a form to fill out to get out of your NY state taxes. I can't imagine his people forgetting to file it. So, to me it is teh fact that he is high profile in NYC and the Taxman wants his share.
