First Arod negotiates without him and now this from Rotoworld:

Kenny Rogers-S-Tigers Nov. 16 - 6:01 pm et

Free agent Kenny Rogers informed Major League teams on Friday afternoon that he has dismissed agent Scott Boras and is now representing himself in contract negotiations.

Rogers made it pretty clear before the end of the season that he wanted to stay in Detroit, while Boras was hoping to get other teams involved. That Rogers is taking this step now suggests that he still wants to be a Tiger and he doesn't think Boras will be worth his five percent commission when he agrees to terms. It's another blow to Boras' reputation after the A-Rod fiasco, though at last check, Boras could still afford to dry his eyes with $100 bills.

Mike and Mike were discussing this on their show. they wondered if Boras' reputation as a "win at all costs, never takes less than he demands" agent has taken a serious blow here.

Scott Boras will be fine. If you're a stud in the amateur draft and don't hire Boras you're a dope. The agent works for you, and you have the final say on your decisions, but it's much easier to throw the evil lawyer under the bus. Edited by SouthSideRyan

Does anyone have an estimation of how much Boras's net worth is?

Well, if the word is true that he is rocking a pony-tail, it is probably at LEAST Terry Silver money.

I was gonna say...has anyone ever SEEN Boras? Maybe he's a myth. Or a robot.

Boras will be fine, his busines will be fine. I think it is about time the players took some responsibleity for their own actions. If he puts them in a bad spot, they can always say No, I want to go here so make the best deal you can. The players are men, not boys being led by the nose.

Haven't Gary Shefield and Andruw Jones dropped him as an agent in previous offseasons?

I know Sheffield dropped his agent before his last deal with the Yankees, but I'm not sure if it was Boras. Boras still represents Andruw Jones.

According to the article on MLB.com, Sheffield had been represented by Boras before negotiating his contract with the Yankees by himself four years ago.

I hope it does because Boras is not good for baseball or his clients

How is he not good for his clients? He does his job, and gets them the most money.

Didn't Z drop Boras a couple of years ago as well.... I know he dropped his agent for someone else.

yes, he's represented by Barry Praver now

I think the only Boras client the Cubs have is Pawelek

Andrew Jones and his father negotiated his last deal with Atlanta but Boras is still his agent. Boras needs to realize that the most money does not make the best situation for his clients. I know it is his job to get them the most he can. The players need to realize HE works for THEM and that they alone are responsible for their destiny. If they don't want to play for the team offering the most, they should speak up and make the agent go to other teams and get the most money from the teams that player would like to play for. It is called free agent because the player can decide where he plays, not his agent.

Wasn't that the deal Sheffield whined about after he himself negotiated the deal? Not that Mr. Clear would ever whine.

So how is Boras bad for his client? He gets them the most money, which like you said is his job, its the players who have the final decision. If they go somewhere they dont want to go just for the money, thats their fault, not Scott Boras.

That would be the one. Didn't Sheffield's eventual whining also lead him out of the Bronx in the Detroit trade?

As a longtime Tiger fan, I like his production in the lineup, but can't stand his antics off the field. Another sign that 'roid rage turns good baseball players into jerks!

Yeah, Sheff is a fun guy like that. One of the Quickest bats in baseball, I wonder how much the juice helped him or how long he even stayed on it.
