I love lamp.

Seriously though, your point with this? To get credit for breaking the news? Well whoever has the actual news (to follow) will get that credit.

And your post is any better?

He just posted that because when I first posted it, I had just heard it on the radio and hadn't yet found a link. I edited later.

Cut him some slack, he's got to eat Thanksgiving dinner through a straw.

Hah, my bad. Haven't been around enough lately to catch the reference, I guess.

jesse jackson wants to know why barry bonds is being indicted on these charges, but not rafael palmeiro.

Did Palmiero testify before a grand jury? But isn't it illegal to lie to Congress?

Was this indictment unexpected?

I don't believe Palmeiro ever testified before a grand jury, but he definitely lied to congress and committed perjury. If Bonds is being prosecuted then Palmeiro should be as well.

Sadly, you have no proof. He said "I have never usED Steriods, not that I never will use steroids. Small technicality, although it does reek like dead fish.

As mentioned glad he is off the streets and steriods are being tested in our school in Texas because of him. Just a side note this will not affect the students I teach that come high on pot, meth, crack or ice.

Raffy survives because he failed a test AFTER he testified. There remains no proof he had juiced before. You and I aren't dumb, we know he did. But until there's a smoking gun he's safe. We may say perjury is perjury, but it really isn't. One was obstruction of justice in a criminal case. The other was a lie to Congress during a dog and pony show. Have they ever indicted all those idiotic Tobacco execs who said they didn't believe smoking was harmful? Obviously somehow the law doesn't see them as equal. Or at least execution of said law.

I know you guys are having some (dead horse beating) fun with this, but prosecuting people who lie under oath is as important as anything federal prosecutors do. You can't let these people go without calling them on their behavior, especially the most high-profile ones. I am not sure why, but some of you seem to not understand this.

+1

Actually though, I do enjoy some of the quips. Some of you are really, really good at being smart-asses. I mean that in a good way.

They just said on SportsCenter that a judge ordered that Greg Anderson be released from jail which is kind of interesting. Wonder if he decided to talk and, if he did, why did he wait so long to do it?

Acoording to his attorney he did not talk.

he was only jailed while the grand jury was meeting.

According to Rotoworld (who seems to know everything), maximum sentence for Barry Bonds crime is 30 years in prison. Ouch!

He won't serve a day.

Yes, I doubt that.

You think Barry might bargain his way out and give up a few other people? If they won't nail him for significant jail time, is this about a shakedown or just so they can say they went after him?

You're probably right. But, I'm just pointing out the insanity of lying about whether you stuck yourself with a needle having a longer prison term than going next door and sawing your neighbor into itty bitty pieces.
