I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if Cesar's career is over.

 

He'll always have the "I was traded even up for Greg Maddux" though.

 

Even his kids will get a laugh out of that one.

Oh no...its not over...paper in St.Louis today listed him as someone the Cards might be interested in to replace Gritstein.

Eckstein is the lone free agent shortstop who has been a regular starter in recent seasons. The Pirates have no plans to pick up the $5.85-million option on Cesar Izturis' contract and will make the former Gold Glove winner a free agent later this week. The Cardinals will have interest when his availability is official.

You know, this Cash guy keeps getting traded back and forth between teams. Any time there's a deal for a PTBNL, do you think he saves himself some trouble and cleans out his locker before evening getting the announcement?

I can't think of a better place for Izturis to end up. Hopefully the Cardinals give him a 3 or 4-year contract.
