Some interesting scores around the nation right now.

Alabama 14, Louisiana Monroe 14 early 3rd. Alabama in an unexpected battle to try to get a 7th win before the Iron Bowl next week.

Minnesota 10, Wisconsin 3 early 2nd. It's pretty inexcusable to be down to Minnesota if you're any kind of decent team in the 2nd quarter.

Western Michigan 12, Iowa 0 early 2nd. Huh? Suddenly the fact that Iowa is guaranteed 7 wins and a bowl is called into question, which could be huge news for teams like Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State. Still very early to say that's probable, but with Iowa's bad offense it is at least a big concern for them at this point.

Jimmy throws two great balls for TDs after Duke fumbles in the last two minutes and suddenly the Irish lead 14-0 at halftime. First halftime lead all year.

i was hoping that the illini wouldn't draw florida in a bowl game, but now, i'm hoping they do and rearrange them.

Just 1 game yadda yadda Tim Tebow yadda yadda SEC yadda yadda luck.

Edit: Unless Florida wins.

illinois is the closest thing to an sec team in the big ten. florida would have their hands full, but so would the illini defense.

There's still an outside chance Illinois gets to a BCS bowl game.

It's not that delusional. A Hawaii loss is the big obstacle now.

There's other obstacles besides that. First, Illinois has to climb 5 spots to even be considered. Even if they do climb the 5 spots, how are they going to get picked over the other teams in the top 14? There are a lot of traditional national powerhouses up there. I don't see any way that Illinois gets picked over teams such as USC, Florida, Texas, WV (if they lose to UConn), LSU (if they lose to Georgia in the SEC title game), or the 2 losers of the Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma triad. There's simply no way that Illinois even gets close to making a BCS game unless tons of teams start losing in their last game.

Each conference can only get two teams.

So that means it can be LSU + UF/Georgia, 2 of OU, Kansas, Missouri, USC + Oregon/ASU. ACC and BE champs get in. Of course OSU

Texas has no chance of getting in.

As a Notre Dame guy you should know the 2 teams max per conference rule. That's 2 teams from the SEC, Pac 10, and Big 12. Ohio St., West Virginia, and whatever piece of crap team the ACC sends. That leaves 1 spot open with the teams in the mix being Hawaii, Boise St., and the 2nd teams from the Big 10, Big East, and ACC.

In the ACC you have Clemson playing BC tonight to see who wins their division, and Virginia playing VA Tech to see who wins that division. The winners of those games play each other to see who wins the ACC. The loser of the championship would probably slot in behind Illinois to be chosen.

In the Big East you have West Virginia playing UConn for the title next week. UConn sucks.

In the Big Ten you have Illinois.

Hawaii plays Boise next week. If Hawaii wins, they're in. If Boise wins they have a chance, though they might have trouble cracking the top 16.

With a Hawaii loss it'll probably come down to Boise vs. Illinois(If Boise qualifies). There's an outside chance of the loser of the ACC title game, but I really doubt it. It would definitely have to be BC or VA Tech. Nobody cares about seeing Virginia or Clemson in a BCS game.

One added note of importance, if Florida gets selected for a BCS game, and Hawaii loses, I see no way it's not Illinois. I have a hard time Illinois not going with a Hawaii loss anyway, but there's no way they pass on Zook/Florida.

EDIT: There's pretty much no way Illinois finishes outside of the top 14.

Oh, I forgot that silly rule. What I was thinking is that they had adopted my proposal which they really should to raise that limit to 3. When you have to have 4 at large teams from just 6 conferences, it makes no sense to limit it to 1 per conference. I agree with the rule when there was only 2 at-larges, but now when there's 4 it leads to a lot of deserving teams being left out.

at least 3 times LSU defenders have committed blatant pass interference today, and not one has been called. what a joke.

It's money. The Big East doesn't want to watch the SEC get an extra 9 million while they just get their 1 team share. Plus the BCS rules are pretty much presupposes a good Notre Dame team. In addition to assuming a good Notre Dame team, the new rules are made to push through a non BCS conference school as well. In the ideal scenario in their heads, you've only 2 at larges from BCS conferences.

Remember that autistic kid who hit six three pointers in a high school basketball game?

why is he playing qb for notre dame

it will be really boring watching oklahoma dominate LSU in the championship game

just like the 2004 title game, right? just like we were supposed to watch OSU demolish UF last year.

We won't beat LSU if we play them.

Well, I say that based on Bradford's road performances this year (terrible). If he plays well in Lubbock tonight, I might amend that statement.

Notre Dame's receivers are terrible.

Jimmy is 14/28, 172 yards, 2 TD and it should be more like 18/28 for 250.

theyd have a chance. hed be facing the toughest defense he has all season long. i dont really understand how jadee gets to that conclusion. Even if you think the SEC is overrated they still would have wins over

arkansas, georgia, florida, virginia tech, and alabama. theyve certainly proved that theyre worthy of being in the NC and wont get blown out. Keep in mind their one less was a triple OT loss and theyve played a top ten schedule. it's ludicrous to think this team would get blown out by another team.
