sorry for the meltdown, but since the cubs, who didn't really win all that much, it's been pretty much nothing for me.

it's been 10 years since mj. i think it's time for something.

It's been 10 years for most of us (Cubs-Bears-Bulls). Most of the college sports teams that are represented here haven't won many championships in the big two lately either.

Heh, I was referring to championships. :) But yeah, pro sports have been bleak for a while. Nothing sucks as much as going to the championship game and then losing (Bears, both our college basketball teams have done it in recent years).

yeah, but ucla has more titles than like any other school. it would have been nice to have gotten just one in champaign. :pig:

As SSR is quick to remind me, I have only been alive for 1. :(

true, and were you a fan of them at the time? i mean, have they been your college team since before you were a student?

for the record, they screwed my pool that year, if arkansas had won it, i would have gotten like 500 bucks. do you know how much 500 bucks is to a 17 year old in 1995? it's like a million dollars.

I was a fan of them in 1995 but not die hard or anything like I am now. In fact, I remember being more mad that the Bulls lost a regular season game (in the 72 win season) than UCLA losing to Princeton in the first round.

And you should never bet on a team with Scoreless Corliss.

I know how you feel, I've rooted for the Hornets since they were in Charlotte and there were some bleak years.

Aside from the '85 Bears and the Jordan Bulls, no team of mine has won a championship while I've been a fan of them. Those Bulls championships feel like ancient history right now.

At least I have Duke

but falcons, hornets, cubs

not very good choices on my part

EDIT: The Hurricanes Stanley Cup was pretty fun, but other than that I don't follow hockey very much

Another 2nd half blown lead. This time we blew an 8 point lead with 8 minutes left. Boylan makes Skiles look like a genious.

My interest in the Bulls is shot this year. I do like watching Hughes, but I'm sick and tired of everything else on this team.

Stupid Phil Jackson. Lakers are up 93-90 with 6 seconds left and they don't foul before the shot and Dirk hits a 3 to tie with two seconds left. What a dumb choice by Phil.

Ugh. Overtime. The Lakers should have won this thing by 10-15.

Skiles was the only thing holding this bunch of mediocre players in the playoff hunt every year. Firing him mid-season because some of the idiot players didn't want to work hard anymore ranks up there with the dumbest GM moves ever.

I heard it might have been Wallace who complained about Skiles, too. If that's true, Paxson should be fired immediately. Fire a good coach because a worthless piece of junk like Wallace doesn't like his style?

Please. You really think Wallace was the only one who didn't like Skiles?

Funny, worked fine the year before.

I certainly heard he was one of the primary complainers.

Well, it didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked but the Lakers beat the Mavericks 108-104 in OT. With the Lakers up three with 10 seconds left, Gasol fouled Kidd on a drive to the basket. Kidd missed the FT which would have tied the game and Kobe got the rebound and sank both. After another miss, Odom iced the game with another FT.

Kobe finished with 52 (can you say MVP) which means he now has the highest scoring game in the NBA in each of the past three seasons. In 05-06 and 06-07 he had the top two.

That I can believe. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Gordon and Duhon couldn't stand him either.

Today was the first game I've gotten to see of the new-look Bulls. Someone please tell me if anything is just small sample size and I'm way off.

I like this team better than the team earlier this season, but it is still no good.

Hughes - Jalen Rose jr. You can't have Hughes and Gordon playing major minutes and taking a lot of shots for the same team. A good scorer, I don't want him on the Bulls.

Gooden - He seems like he is really psyched to be on a team where he thinks he is a top dog. Problem is, he is definitely not a top dog. A good front court contributor but took too many deep jumpers and put the ball on the ground too much.

The team is still without an identity. I don't like the direction they seem to be going which is, basically, a holding pattern. Like Golden State before Baron Davis resurrected his career. Not a lot of d, no go-to guy on offense, fast break offense, etc.

Gordon, I'd agree with. But Duhon? He was Skiles' guy. I don't remember Skiles ever criticizing the guy.

this was in an article about the return of the birdman:

according to the collective bargaining agreement, a player can only be disqualified for a fourth positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, or a first positive test for “drugs of abuse.”

does this seem ass-backwards to me? the punishment is a lot more severe for using recreational drugs than for trying to improve your game through artificial means?
