I saw on two different sites that the Giants might offer Tim Lincecum for a big bat and they're thinking of picking up the options of Omar Visquel and Pedro Feliz.

Memo to the Giants:

You are an old lousy team and you need to rebuild. That means you keep Lincecum and turn down the options on Visquel and Feliz.

yea I know and I was impling we would have to trade for him

I guess I am not being very clear/eloquent thei safternoon.

hell, send them aram if we could get Miggy. Lini and Z make a GREAT 1&2 starter tandum

Man, I really was hoping Lincecum would fall 3 more spots in the 2006 draft.

However, once again, pitching was not our problem. Offense is. I wouldn't be giving up Aram/Lee unless I really really had to.

truuuueee...but replacing Marquis with Lini and putting Marquis into the bull pen as long man (essentially eating his contract) makes us MUCH better. of course this trade is based on the idea we could then trade for Miggy to replace Lee/Aram's bat.

otherwise I wouldnt do it.

in reality, a Miggy for Lini deal between SF and Florida makes more sense, but I'm just dreaming here.

I'd not move Lee until we had an adequate replacement.

Trade a bag of peanuts for Hatteberg. Or better yet, trade an arm for Loney. 1Bs aren't that hard to come by.

Let's not lose sight of how DLee's defense improves ARam's defense.

Not that much?

Aram has become exponentially better on defense since we first traded for him, and I can't remember very many throws at all that Lee saved from being disastrous over the past couple years.

Not nearly as much as people think, thanks to conventional wisdom?

fine. then trade Aram and sign Arod

Lee is more expendable than Aramis. If you're going to trade one, trade Lee to LA for Kemp or Loney.

thats prolly true. Can Arod play 1st? if not, can Aram?

It's one of the easier positions to learn in the defensive spectrum, if I'm not mistaken, although if you trade Lee for Loney you just have him play 1B.

Fixed.

I agree 100%.

That really is a move that needs to be explored. If Colletti is serious about adding veterans, then we need to assist him in adding them, especially if he's willing to dump on Kemp and Loney.

I'd trade Lee and Marmol for both, honestly.

no chance the Cubs trade their team captain. It honestly would be a great move. I'd do Lee for Loney straight up. They'll be pretty close to the same offensive player in 2008.

Thing about Colletti is he appears to be regretting the Pierre contract. He supposedly wants to make a run at Andruw Jones. If he moves Kemp and Loney it's not unlikely he'll try to package them with Pierre, since it's the only way to make Pierre disappear without eating a big part of the $36.5M he's owed. Unfortunately Pierre is a type of player that Hendry actually values, so he might do a deal. This would put Pie on the trading block.

I'm fairly certain Hendry learned his lesson on Pierre. Maybe not about overvaluing stupid things, but about Juan Pierre in particular. It seemed pretty clear he was ready to let him walk and didn't miss him.
