Drake beats Butler.

On a horsecrap call. Drake up 2 with 17 seconds to go and the shot clock running down, Drake's player throws himself at Mike Green while chucking a 3, doesn't even hit Green and gets the call anyway. I'm not a Butler fan but that was simply awful.

 

I think the replay showed that Green reached in. He got caught in the cookie jar w/ less than a second on the shot clock. He made a stupid play.

 

That's what it looked like to me as well - the Butler player reaching in and hooking the shooter's left arm. With the shot clock running down you can't be doing things like that.

Very entertaining game, but both teams look sloppy and erratic to me. Both team forcing shots. Shooting under 45%. Lot of stupid turnovers. Lot of 1-on-1 plays.

But they finish out at home, at least. They've been playing games close at home with their interim coach (except for Washington last weekend).

It was fun to be in Memphis over the weekend, it's been quite awhile where I've been in a town with that buzz over college basketball.

I took 3 things away from that game.

 

1. Rose is better than I thought. Which is saying a lot cause I have always really liked him.

 

2. Tennessee is really good. Prince and Tyler Smith are matchup nightmares.

 

3. Priscilla Pressley is dead and being carried around like Bernie in Weekend at Bernies.

Also, on a purely selfish note, ND's home win streak moves to 2nd longest in the nation. :D Hopefully they extend it tomorrow afternoon against the Cuse.

Good news for Texas :-). Plus a good week now with a 1 game lead over Kansas and 2 game lead over K-State. After peaking very early in the season, they are on another good run now while playing real good defense. A win over KState on Monday should put them very close the regular season title.

I don't think so and I really like Tennessee. With them and Butler I at least have two teams to pull for in the tournament.

 

Memphis is a good matchup for them. Their defense is just so reliant on forcing turnovers (although not tonight). It depends on the bracket but if they play a good team that takes care of the ball and has an interior threat, I think they're in trouble. I wouldn't like their chances against UCLA or Kansas.
