This is the best World Series matchup rooting-wise probably since 1997 because I won't be mad if either team wins.

Teams I didn't want to see win

2006: Cardinals

2005: Both

2004: Cardinals

2003: Too depressed and didn't want either to win

2002: Giants

2001: Yankees

2000: Both

1999: Yankees

1998: Yankees

Agreed. I don't want to see the Red Sox win it, but that's a half-hearted preference. It's nice knowing that, this year, we won't want to drive off a cliff no matter who takes it. However, with the recent youtubery, I'm rooting a little harder for the Rockies, just for fear of Papelbon getting naked on the field in post-game celebration and jumping on top of Josh Beckett.

Also, props to Aramis fan for the reference to the big lead-blowing comeback victory. It's nice to remember that being a Cubs fan was actually fun for a while this year, starting pretty much with that game. (Though sweeping the White sox the three days prior was nice too.)

Boo Josh Beckett. I hope his arm falls off while pitching this one.

Massive QFT. He's easily my least favorite part about this series.

I was reflecting on this, and decided that I'd rather the Red Sox were in it, so that I have a team to root against. I like the Indians better, but if they were in it I wouldn't know who to root for, and would be much less into this series.

So, Go Rockies!

My Whatifsports.com simulation has this game going to the Red Sox 6-0. Red Sox jump on Francis for 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, with Beckett pitching 8 innings with 7 k's and 4 hits.

Screw that.

GO ROCKIES.

I haven't been paying attention, but what are the Red Sox going to do with Ortiz and Youkillis during the games in Colorado?

Well they run into a conundrum when they go to Colorado to be sure. Any way they cut it, they are going to have to sit either Papi (no way), Youkilis, or Lowell. Papi at 1st, keep Lowell at third and lose a good no.2 hitter in Youkilis? Papi at 1st, put Youkilis at third and not only do you have defensive liabilities on the corners but you lose Lowell. Or you keep things the way they are and just lose Papi...which isn't happening.

Yeah, yikes.

And can you imagine Papi in coors...oh god.

They should just put Youk at SS. Problem solved. :D
