I don't know why, but I find it funny that the commissioner of Major League Baseball has an office in Milwaukee. (yes, I know, but still... Milwaukee? You're a big shot now. Big shots don't have offices in Milwaukee.)

I prefer that he not take up offices in New York like everyone else. Actually, that's probably one of the very few things I like about Bud Selig.

If I was an owner, I'd probably be kind of pissed that we're paying for office space for this guy in like, the most expensive place on the planet, yet, he's got another office in Milwaukee. Not to mention the travel from place to place that he inevitably must do.

Then again, it could be worse. At least his other office isn't in Cincinnati.

If it prevents Cuban from owning the Cubs, all the better. This man is much less than I thought he was.

It will be harder to really love the Cubs, knowing the beliefs of this man.

Simply read the details of the movie "Redacted". This is a vile film from a vile man who thinks he's operating in a vacuum. Pro or against war, this film will incite more violence against American military troops. I'm disgusted and sorry I ever considered this man, and I pray that any measure forces him out of the picture.

Do a little research, it might shock you. Since this is the "Baseball Discussion" Thread its not really the place to discuss Cuban's bizarro anti-American film, but I was shocked when I found out about it. I was very much in favor of Cuban being the Cubs next owner, learning about that film completely changed my feelings about him. He's now made alot of enemies with that film, he was facing a real challenge getting owners to aprove his ownership proposal to begin with, Id say the film and the buzz its creating is only going to make it harder for him. I encourage people to look it up info on it and judge it for themselves, I certainly found it upsetting. Here's a small piece I dugg up:

According to Production Weekly, Brian De Palma's follow-up to the loved by few, not really liked by many BLACK DAHLIA is going to be REDACTED, a war drama based on the recent events surrounding the rape and murder of a 14-year old Iraqi girl and the killing of three of her family members by four US soldiers. Oddly enough, this will be the second De Palma movie to deal with such a thing; his CASUALTIES OF WAR centered around five U.S. soldiers during the Vietnam War, four of whom kidnap and rape a young villager. In a move that's decidedly un-De Palma-esque, however, REDACTED will be cobbled together from documentary footage, trial coverage, video from news broadcasts, YouTube posts, and excerpts from one of the soldier's video blogs.

Our soldiers dont deserve to be depicted this way, its beyond upseting its sickening. Cuban funded the production of this movie to the tune of 5 million dollars. He's done some backtracking on it lately though and had pieces of it edited.

Wiki says (grain of salt added) Cuban asked that some particularly graphic footage be removed to spare the families grief.

I know nothing about this, so I guess I'll wait to see the thing before passing judgement.

And we should glorify it and show it to the world so that they can think all of our military is like this because of....? How many Movies are created showing all of the good things our military does for us, about how they risk thier lives every day fighting for us? Why not make a film about the many rapes of Iraqi women by their fellow Muslims? Or about how many U.S. troops have saved countless women from the mass raping of Uday and Qusay Hussein or the rapes by their fighting Sunni and Shi'ite co-religionists? Could go on and on.

Those ideas you list are cliche. Do you really believe that the only way the other countries in the world get their perception of us is through Hollywood?

Yeah, I do believe that movies and the media create the bulk of how other countries percieve us, its sad but true. *sigh* People can make up thier own minds on this topic, I really didnt mean to derail the subject of this thread. I dont come here for discussion about war/politics probably the bottom of my interest list. This is my last post on the subject.

Maybe you should ready the blog entry on blogmaverick.com about this before freaking out.

And as an aside, those particular soldiers absolutely deserve that type of depiction.

Only 2 hits for "redacted" on it, and neither is really to the point, other than that he doesn't think it will have any negative effect.

I think that the concept that the enemy will see these films and use it as motivation is total nonsense.

They will, however, hear a lot about the film on various local tv stations.

Kind of amusing that hollywood keeps putting out anti-war flops. I just don't think that they're a big deal. Propaganda is not something these people are short on.

I think he's referring to this one:

The first part of it is about O'Reilly, who big suprise has begun attacking Cuban over the move. But the second part gives Cuban's take on what the movie is about from his point of view.

Well, near the end he basically says "DePalma [the director] thinks that he's going to show people that this war is turning their sons into raping murderers, and that will cause the end of the war. I don't think it will end the war." That's not going to win him back many points with the people so furious at him in the first place.

I wouldn't have funded the movie and I can't imagine I'd ever watch it, but I don't hate the guy for funding it. It's certainly a legitimate subject for discussion/debate/art

If we shouldn't have a movie like that because it taints honorable soldiers, should we no longer air movies/shows that depict pedophile teachers because those also disparage an honorable profession? Should we not have movies/shows about corrupt law enforcement officers because it might cast dispersions on honorable law enforcers? Where do we draw the line?

I'd hope that people that watch such whether about soldiers or other professions have the critical thinking ability to know it is the exception and not the norm.

Cast dispersions ????? I think we know where to draw the line.

i don't see why any potential owner would buy the team without Wrigley. you'd have to think they go hand in hand

One would think MLB would demand it. Maybe this is part of the holdup. I already know they cannot sell CSN separately from the club or the ownership stake becomes less than 25% with the remaining three teams absorbing the difference.
