Manny Corpas-R- Rockies Oct. 4 - 1:07 pm et

TBS cameras caught Rockies closer Manny Corpas pouring a cup of water or soda on the front of his shirt before leaving the bullpen to pitch the ninth inning of Wednesday's game and then rubbing dirt on the area.

A stunning turn of events, if only because TBS actually was back in time for the first pitch of that inning. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Corpas appeared to go to the spot on his jersey before several of his pitches. It'd be illegal for him to intentionally apply a substance to his jersey for a better grip on the ball, though it'd hardly make him unique if he were doing it.

Pretty interesting, especially since we thought Webb had something on his hat.

Every pitcher has their tricks. Played in College with a guy who would shower shortly before every gamer and apply all kinds of hair gel to the back of his head. On the mound he would simply take off his hat and rub his hand on the back of his head.

Once he got going, the combination of sweat and gel combined to make a very stiicky substance.

I saw him splash the cup of water on himself. I just assumed he was cooling himself off after a bullpen workout worked him into a lather.

Interesting.

Forget the cheating, that bolded part is the best thing in the entire blurb.

They just replayed the whole thing on TBS a second ago, and I don't think there was anything fishy going on.

I find it refreshing to take an entire cup of soda and just throw it on myself. Nothing fishy about that at all.

Looked like water to me. I've never heard of MLB teams that have soda in their dugout coolers.
