Steve Bartman?

I hope the Cubs can win the WS just for that poor guy's sake. He's been through a whole lot of crap for doing what any of us would have done.

Please stop saying this. Maybe you would have done it but I know not everyone would.

I know I wouldn't want my hands anywhere near those of one Moises Alou. Yecch.

A lot of fans would, but not me.

I was watching a game this weekend (can't remember which one). A foul ball was hit on the first base side and as the ball was caught, you could see several fans backing away from the ball and then clapped when it was caught.

I don't blame Bartman for the loss, but there was no excuse for that.

But I tell you who I blame, and that's Alou for the little sissy fit he threw in left field. Because of his fit, Mark Prior went balistic. And then I blame "toothpick Baker" for not going out to the mound to calm his pitcher. Instead, he sat like a fat dunce on the dugout chompin' on a small piece of wood while his entire team imploded.

I'll never forgive Baker for his total ineptitude in game 6 and especially in 7.

And I hate to say it, but Gonzalez was a better hitter (and that's not saying much) than Theriot is right now, and he was a much better fielder.

At least Ryan is hard to K.

Not in the one game at the one moment in time when we needed him to be.

i was just getting ready to say that...

That was an opportunity for Dusty to show leadership and calm the young pitcher down. I think the major blame falls on Dusty for that one failure.

Seriously, what manager does not go out there in that situation and talk to his pitcher to 1) calm him down, and 2) give the bullpen time to get ready.

I couldn't believe that Baker just sat there on the bench in that situation. It was Crusty, not Bartman that deserves the blame for not going to the World Series.

Do the Cubs win that game if Baker goes out there? Not necessarily. But you have your left fielder going bananas's and your pitcher yelling at the ump. Baker didn't even budge to go out and talk with the ump.

What a frickin' idiot!

Damn! This thread is stirring up my anger. The Cubs better win the next 2 series so I can let this go. It's been eatin' me up for 4 years now. If they don't win, I'm gonna need therapy.

Not if you want them to remain dry.
