I wouldn't say idiot. He was slowing down halfway to 2nd when the ball hadn't even been fielded....

there's just no reason to go for it if there's a shot in hell of you being thrown out. he wasn't the tying run. He couldn't risk himself.

 

Ok. I'll concede the point. I definitely agree don't risk it - if it's going to be close. It just looked like he could have cruised into 3rd. Doesn't matter anymore!
