Imagine the pressure the team would be feeling if the Brewers had won? I bet they'll be a whole lot more relaxed tomorrow.

Sorry I can't be as happy as you guys. We are losing to a terrible Marlins team. If we took care of business this thing would've been over already. We are just letting Milwaukee hang around.

I'm happy about losing a game off our Magic Number, but not happy with the play of this team. We have been flat out terrible in this series.

The Marlins really seem to have our number. That said, we still should have beat them 2 out of 3.

The only way we are gonna get to the World Series is if we get really hot offensively at the right time. This team is simply too streaky and way too impatient at the plate. Let's just hope we get streaky good at the right time.

Honestly, I'm excited but not getting my hopes up. After all, we are talking about the Chicago Cubs.

We can still blow this thing. We can easily lose today and the Brewers have their hottest pitcher going and could easily win. I'm not getting my hopes up nor is this thing over.

While I agree with your sentiment, the Marlins are not a terrible offensive team. Ramirez, Uggla, Hermida, and Cabrera would all be starters for the Cubs and most of the other teams in the majors. Pitching and defense are certainly important factors in winning baseball games over the long haul, but sometimes hitters can just take over a short series.

Offensive teams with no pitching are also exactly the type of non-successful teams to give the Cubs trouble, considering their impeccable ability to make any pitcher look good on any given day. This is why the Reds have been a problem this year.

At any rate, I came into this series thinking that the bare minimum the Cubs needed was to not get swept in either series. If they pull that off, then the Cards stealing that game looks even bigger.

I dunno, the Cubs look so tight right now I'm not sure they will be able to hit anything.

And with Trax going today, it looks like yet another loss.

Pray SD comes to play. We've lost 9 in a row to these guys!?! Unreal. Gonna blow 10 straight to a team that was 12 games under .500 at home.

I would be laughing if it wasn't late September. But now I can only peer out in a daze at my TV screen, wondering on channel 640 how the Cubs could possibly be losing to these jokers, then praying on channel 642 that the Crew opposition will save our sorry butts. It's not a good feeling. I don't feel all that great today, sorry davhern :(

I'm with you...I just hope the Brewers loss will give the team a lift. I don't feel good about today at all.

Padres just won 2 straight and are sniffing the finish line. They'll win at least 2 games.

2 games up with 4 to play \:D/

I can't get all upset over two games. These things happen over the course of 162 games. Bottom line is the lead didn't shrink at all yesterday, a day came off the calendar, and as a result, the magic number is down to 3.

absolutely. People forget a couple of things:

1} It is a long season with ups and downs. 162 games. We just came off a good homestand, you can't play great all the time

2} We had the worst record in the NL last year. We lost 96 games. Expectations around here are absolutely insane. I am thrilled to be up 2 games and to have the chance to compete for a World Series. I can't believe the mood swings here during a 162 game season. Maybe too many women here. :)

i don't care how many games they lost last year, and i refuse to use that as a measuring stick. that sounds like something jim hendry would do. being happy with an improvement from one of most pathetic cub seasons ever isn't enough for me...and 85 wins for a team with a $100 mil payroll is not good.

I would expect nothing less from you.
