Why am I not surprised, that I check the rants section, and the Rich Hill Learn to bunt thread is bumped.

He really does need to learn to bunt.[/quote

If he continues pitching gems like this I could care less if he walks to the plate and takes his ab without a bat

Well, he wouldn't do any worse.

I don't believe there's any rule against this, so I'd run Hill out to the mound to start the 8th, make Houston show their hand with their pinch hitter, then go to Ohman or Wood depending on the handedness of the hitter. Wood then finishes the inning. Dempster closes.

If he steps on the mound doesnt he have to throw at least 1 pitch?

Actually, since the Astros would be using a pinch hitter, I believe Lou is allowed to pull Rich in order to react to the new hitter.

Don't quote me on that though.

I believe you're right (if the Astros use a PH).

SSR called it.

Glad you noticed

He pitched a hell of a game, but it is still 100% fair to comment on his terrible bunting ability.

I'd hate to see him up in the playoffs with men on 1st and 2nd and nobody out.

If he pitches the way he did tonight who cares. Soriano would be following him and our 136 million dollar man should be counted on to do something with the bat moreso than Rich

But yeah, this should definitely be Wuertz or Wood. It would be nice to not have to pitch Marmol 2 innings tomorrow, and unless our offense explodes for 10 runs tomorrow or we just forfeit the game he probably will.

I think the rule is if he makes contact with the mound he has to throw 1 pitch, but Rich was standing behind the mound so I dont know if he ever made contact. I could very well be wrong though

Not sure I like having Howry pitching tonight

I'm sure I don't like it. If Howry needed to be used this inning, I would much rather it be because Wuertz was unable to get two outs before allowing the go-ahead run to the plate.

OT: How do you get the MLB media player to open on Vista? Everything else about when I open it is fine, just the media player doesn't actually open.

If Dempster's unavailable, and I kind of assume he is, who is going to get the 9th? I can't imagine Howry will go two innings.

I care because it is his primary job at the plate as a SP. Its really not that hard to do.

There should be a greater probablity of Hill getting the bunt down in that situation compared to Soriano getting a hit.

i've never had any problem opening it

Once a PH is announced the other team is allowed to make any move they want.

Someone referred to the fact that Demp only threw 17 pitches yesterday. I would not be surprised to see him if this score holds.

Better idea, let's put 3 on the board next inning and throw Eyre out there to finish

I like it much better than the idea of Wood, Ohman, or Wuertz loading the bases with nobody out.

Wood.

The idea of Woody pitching to Berkman and Lee is really scary. I can't see Lou putting Kerry in that kind of situation.
