Wow.

I just got home from this (couldn't stay out...cut classes for these last minute tickets, so I gotta make up for it by actually doing my damn homework), and man, I have not been this happy seeing the Cubs in a while. Yeah, I've seen them a dozen or so times live this season, but this is the first one that really just "felt" so great. The atmosphere around the ballpark before and after was just so much fun, and during it felt like we were winning the whole damn thing. I really just hope they can turn this one game into some kind of momentum for the next 2-3 weeks. I know it wasn't really dramatic, but short of THE miracle happening, this was my favorite "live" Cubs game this year. Thanks, boys.

Heh, we got there a little before 1, just before the Cardinals started practicing on the field, and as soon as he showed up the bleachers were giving him hell. During the game everyone around me was screaming "H-G-H!!!" in my section for his first 2 AB's...we were the second section back by the end of the Cubs dugout towards the bullpen, so I can only hope a lot of others were doing the same. With his last 2 AB's both of his k's got semi-standing ovations, especially the 4th one. Since this wasn't a series there were a LOT less Cardinals fans than usual, so the atmosphere the whole time was a lot of fun.

Yea thats great. It would have been awesome if the fans would have given him one of those standing O's that the Cards fans have been giving him after every single damn HR.

It was nice for once being at a Cards/Cubs game at Wrigley where the few breaks the Cards got weren't cheered on by a sizeable crowd. The few hits and runs they got were met with a ton of boos.

Didn't read the entire game thread, so I'm not sure if this has been answered:

Why didn't Zambrano's 3 innings of scoreless ball count when we played the postponed game today?

When a game is PPD before reaching the 5-inning mark, the whole game is scrapped and started from scratch at a later date. A game is only resumed in progress if it was suspended, not postponed.

Why wasn't this game suspended?

Because it wasn't yet an official game.

Wouldn't a game just be called if it was an official game?

A game is only suspended when the home team gives up the lead in the top of the inning after at least 5 full innings have been played and then weather doesn't allow them to have the bottom of the inning to "respond." Z's game never made it through 5 innings, so it essentially doesn't exist.
