make that 51-42

How bout that? I change the channel to check on the Colt game and MTSU jumps right back into it.

Just my opinion, but I would have gone for two there. Not getting it still leaves you within a TD and a FG, while kicking it still leaves you down two scores. I see no reason not to go for the two.

79 yard TD run. Louisville fans hate life right now

This wouldn't come the least bit close to the App. State over Michigan upset, but it would still be pretty huge. Mediocre, fairly new to D-1 Sun Belt team over a legit national title contender? That would be big.

Most likely not going to happen though. :(

Louisville has now put up 131 points in two games. I know it's against Little Sisters of the Poor, but that offense is filthy. Has been for years. Hell, Brohm and company only played a little over one half in the first game.

Very true. But with their schedule they might not need one. They have West Virginia and Rutgers (and I think maybe South Florida) as what should be their only "tough" games. And either way, they've been a solid team the past few years without a defense. They might give up 42, but they've shown they can score 50.

I bet Brohm will be the top QB selected in the 08 draft.

You're not exactly going out on a limb by saying this... without injuries, McFadden and Brohm are the two guys virtually guaranteed to go in the top 5 next year. Probably Jake Long, too.

Yeah, I know. If he would have declared last year he probably would have been at the top also.

I will go out on a bit more of a limb (not that that's saying much) and say that he'll win the Heisman this year. Booty is going to get a ton of consideration because he plays for USC. Brohm will also get more respect than Brennan because Louisville actually plays in a BCS conference even though their schedule is fairly easy as well.

if hawai'i goes undefeated (I've picked them to do so) and brennan puts up more ridiculous numbers - say, 60 TD passes, close to 6000 yards, QB rating above 180 - I think he may win it.

btw, my friend sent out an e-mail asking several questions before the season started - here were my answers:

1) Pick a team in the preseason top 10 who will NOT be in the top 10 when the regular season ends.

Virginia Tech

2) Pick a team not in the preseason top 10 who WILL finish in the top 10 at the end of the regular season.

Louisville

3) Predict the regular season record of your favorite team.

Penn State: 9-3

4) Predict the order of finish (top four teams) in your favorite conference -- if you pick the SEC or Big 12, pick the top 2 in each division.

Big Ten: Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State

5) Predict the biggest upset in your conference (must be a conference game).

Michigan State over Michigan, 11/3

6a) How many undefeated teams will there be at season's end (NOT including bowl games)?

Two

6b) Which teams will be going undefeated?

USC, Hawai’i

7a) Predict the BCS teams -- in other words, pick the following ten teams:

ACC champ, Big East champ, Big Ten champ, Big 12 champ, Pac 10 champ, SEC champ, then the four next best teams. Remember, only two teams from the same conference can be in the BCS.

ACC: Georgia Tech

Big East: Louisville

Big Ten: Wisconsin

Big 12: Oklahoma

Pac 10: USC

SEC: LSU

Other four BCS teams: Hawai’i, Texas, Michigan, Florida

7b) Out of those ten teams, predict the BCS championship game and the national champion.

USC versus Oklahoma, USC wins

8) If you could attend only one regular season college football game this year, which one would it be?

Boise St @ Hawai’i (exciting, high scoring game – and I’d be in Hawai’i)

speaking of really overweight, here's my favorite college football coach losing it after one of his players showboats at the end of a punt return TD. This comes with a potty-mouth warning.

Mangino called the guy a hot dog, is that a compliment or insult.

It's a threat.

Hahahhahahahhaha. Holy crap, SSR, that one got me good.

While I'd like Brohm to win it, I have a feeling it's going to end up being McFadden or Booty. Brohm could have a better season, but he'll never get the hype of those two in the media. And that can actually sway voters when all they see is news and highlights from one or two guys. People will also look at Louisville's schedule and say he didn't play any tough defenses. (Much like they'll say for Colt Brennan, right before they say he's just a product of his offensive system) They'll ignore the fact that he's been putting up big games since he became a starter.

But yeah, if the team that lands the first pick is looking quarterback, I see him going number one. Especially if that team is Atlanta. Bobby Petrino is probably praying to get his old QB back.

I admit the first 2 teams that Louisville played are weak but they go on to play: Kentucky, NC State and Utah from here, plus ALL the Big East teams. Colt is playing against poor competition the whole year except for a game against Washington. I always respect USC's schedule because they usually only play 1 creampuff a year. Arkansas plays Troy, No. Texas, Chatt, and Fla International in their out of conference schedule....that's just horrible.

Paternoville expected to be biggest yet

Posted
Despite the likely outcome Saturday, I'm psyched to see Jimmy start his career as a starting QB. I'm sure he'll do fine even if the rest of the team doesn't.

I haven't wandered over there yet, but I have seen plenty of pictures.
