Do you ever watch Lee at the plate after he gets called for a third strike, or hits another can of corn to shallow left? The look on his face is like someone whose dog's just been shot. That's not what I'd call a killer instinct.

Oh God. Are you seriously citing a player's facial expressions now?? Seriously??

Oh God. Yes I am. Seriously. Only a fool would think that something's not wrong with him based on that, and his poor offensive production this year.

But don't let me muddy up your pollyannish view of this team, that's everything's just swell.

You can argue that things aren't swell at all (and I wouldn't really disagree, I already said that this is a mediocre team that's leading a less than mediocre division, nothing more). But using facial expressions as evidence isn't going to make you a strong case. Not with me at least.

By the way, what poor offensive production? You mean he's not living up to his insane 2005 season? Wow. Who would've expected that?

I wouldn't exactly call .313/.400/.492 poor, though. Maybe not as good as we'd like.

I am impressed with your ability to judge people emotions and feelings based on their expressions. You must be one of the best poker players in mankind, I bet you can just see through people's poker faces.

Let me ask you something. Can you tell if Zambrano cares whether he wins or loses?

Is this a joke? It almost sounds like you are trolling for responses.

Are you going to start talking about fire and intensity now and suggesting that Lou needs to throw a fit and start throwing bases around out there to light a fire under the team?

Sure, Z gets worked up quite a bit. Do all people exhibit their emotions on their sleeves? No, they don't.

I don't agree with ICF at all, I think the whole facial expression thing is pure crap, but I would like it if Lou blew up and started screaming at this team behind closed doors. I don't think it could hurt at this point.

LOL @ Pat and Ron

Pat: Ron Foley, one of the best hockey announcers I've ever heard

Ron: Who's that again?

Yeah I mentioned a couple pages ago how obvious it was they weren't into the game anymore.

Yes, but Z wears his emotions on his sleeve. Some people are more reserved then that and contain their emotions, but that doesn't mean the emotions are any less strong. For example, Lee's always been like what you describe. Some players like to treat it as a game and go out and have a great time, while other players like to be serious most of the time. Without talking to both types, it's impossible to know which one cares more about winning, if there's any difference at all.

Zambrano will be 14-11 with a 4+ ERA after this game. Maybe next year he will not proclaim Cy Young awards and just shut up and pitch.

Nice inning by Wuertz. Our pen is really good from the right side.

In games that are already over...

The only guys he'll ever let pitch when the games aren't over are Howry, Marmol, and Dempster, who have all been great as of late.

Don't make me bring out my bastardized logic symbols again.

I don't think "Mellow Lou" is a real big help at this point. It's a little too much like Dusty if you ask me.
