I'm mystified at how impotent the Cubs lineup is against perennial gopher-ball pitchers like Davis. If he were pitching against the Cards or the Mets, he'd have given up 6 or 7 runs already. But since everyone on this team is trying to hit a three-run homer with no one on (Ramirez especially), once again we're making a limp-wristed left hander look like Randy Johnson.

Does anyone really like the soul patch? I mean does Davis look in the mirror in the morning and say, "damn, that's a good look for me." It looks like dried chew spit. Edited by CubinNY

I also want to know why this Cub offense continually pursues a terrible strategy against loopy slowballers game after game. Why is nothing done about this?

Whenever you see a dude with a soul patch, one of the following two things are true:

1.) He's gay

2.) He doesn't own a mirror

I'm no expert, but I would think the answer to guys like this is to be patient at the plate and try to take the ball the other way, because it sure seems like swinging from your heels and twisting yourself into the ground isn't working.

Me too. I would think if a pitcher without real good stuff wants to nibble outside all day, I would want my hitters dumping the ball the other way all day until he's forced to come inside. I see other teams do this alot.

That and just not swinging at pitches way outside and balls that bounce before they hit the plate always helps.
