Now we've got people swinging at balls that hit them? Yikes

Wild pitch, Albert slides head first, his hand appeared (at least to me) to go over the plate but doesn't touch it, Marmol tags him near his Pujols, and he's out.

Duncan swings for strike 3 on a pitch that hit him. He's out no matter what else happens.

Always fun to watch the Cubs and Cards go at it, that's for sure.

TO EVERYONE THAT DOESN'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON:

With Duncan at the plate, Marmol uncorked a wild pitch, Kendall made a spectacular play to flip the ball to Marmol covering home to get Pujols. Albert argued although it appeared he never touched home.

On the next pitch, Duncan swung and missed as the ball hit him, making him automatically out.

What happened exactly?

Wild pitch way wide of the plate, Kendall played it off the bricks perfectly and threw to Marmol who tagged Pujols out at the plate. Okay so Pujols was safe and Marmol tagged him late on the rear end but.......I'll take it.

Pujols never got home plate, from the angle I saw. The ump was right on top of the play and made the right call, imo.

Now that the inning is over, can someone please tell me when the Farns started wearing eyeglasses while pitching?

He's been wearing them all year. But, I'm not sure if he started it this year or at the end of last year.

Sometime last year I think. He needs the Rick Vaughn black skull glasses.

Also, if you slow it down...it appears that Marmol actually tags the shoulder as the hand is going in before finally swiping the glove on the rear. He got him.

Either way, I'll take it.

It's like the old days with Kerry Wood.

Poor Fernando Vina.

Too add:

The ball got away after it hit Duncan and he ran to first, where he just beat the throw, but the ump made no call because he can't advance on a ball that hits him. LaRussa halfheartedly argued.

That's not accurate.

This is not to say that it was not a horrible swing... It was unbelievably bad. I'm just saying that it was not that far inside.

Considering he was David Eckstein before David Eckstein was David Eckstein, I have no sympathy for him.
