I like how he always wants to play and hates taking a day off or not being involved at all.Even though he might be overpayed, I still really like the guy, he always seems happy and has alot of energy.Keep them motivated Fonzie.

"It's hard for me to see the team play [on TV] or to watch it here, but there's nothing I can do," he said. "I'll see what I can do from the bench to help the team. A lot of people here are down, and I can motivate the team to win."

Its too bad he cant produce at the 3 or 5 spot, because Theriot is proving to be one hell of a leadoff hitter.

He can produce in the 5 spot. It's a myth that he has only been able to hit at leadoff. He's a 5 hitter right now, and as he ages, and his legs get worse (two leg injuries already this year) it's only going to get more and more obvious.

As I have said all along but people told me to STFU.

Maybe after this injury he'll get off his high horse and learn to be a team player.

has he ever said he won't hit #5? or anywhere but #1? or is this just a myth? he hit 3rd for a while when Lee was out.

Huh? He has offered to play CF, LF, probably RF if needed. 2B when completely necessary.

He doesn't care where he hits, just prefers leadoff.

As far as I can tell, the problem with Soriano and the batting order is moreso a problem with manager(s) not putting him in the middle.

For strategic reasons, I'm actually not entirely opposed to him hitting leadoff. But since Theriot can carry the OBP/speed weight, why not fix him into the spot?

My choice of words in "high horse" were wrong and I apologize. I mean hmm... how do I put it... he needs to learn to hit in other spots in the lineup. It is where he truly is needed and would make our healthy lineup completely dominant.

Theriot SS

Fontenot 2B

Lee 1B

Ramirez 3B

Soriano LF

DeRosa RF

Jones CF

Kendall C

Pitcher P

Please tell me that is not one of the most dominant lineups in the major leagues?

It's not even close. It's the same players that have combined to be barely an average NL lineup.

It's not even close to completely dominant. It is a slightly above average lineup, but that's it.

that lineup isn't bad, but the mets are still far superior. that's just one off the top of my head. philly is probably better too.

I think Lou just needs to put Sori in the 5-hole (once he's back) and leave him there. I liken it to Frank Robinson forcing his move to LF last year--Sori didn't like it at first, but once he got used to the idea, he put up a career year. I think he just needs to be told what his role is, and let him figure it out from there.

yeah, philly's lineup is pretty scary...especially when the cubs play them since rowand likes to jack everything thrown to him and so does rollins...

however...for those of you saying that soriano isn't worth his contract...

if we win the world series during his contract...hopefully within the next 4 years...because that is when i believe he will be at the peak of his powers...

is he then worth it to you?

i think with his leg issues right now...there is really not much benefit in leading him off for the rest of the season...

soriano is my favorite player on this club for a reason...his attitude...plus...he looks like a camel cross bred with one of the the aliens from the movie "Aliens"...which is totally cool...

but...since he has such a wonderful disposition...he will do what must be done...why?

because he plays for the fun of it and he plays to win!!!

The Mets lineup hasn't shown their superiority much this year. They've scored a total of 5 more runs then the Cubs lineup.

Now the Phillies? That's a much better lineup.

Yeah, it would be worth it to me, but it doesn't mean he'd be worth his contract.

It's arguable whether or not it would be the most dominant in the NL Central.
