Time to jump out early on Moyer. This game will have at least 6 runs combined by the 3rd inning, hopefully Cubs 4-2.

"CUBS score 4.67 R/G overall.... 3.00 R/G when Hill pitches

"

This says a lot.

Score some for Hill, plz.

I think it says guys don't like playing behind Rich. He is slow, throws lots of pitches and really doesn't get the defense involved (Lots of K's and flyballs).

Whoa whoa whoa

I'm not saying anything like that, I'm just saying it might affect Rich a little pyschologically. He plays his heart out and the bats never seem to pay him any favors.

I know what you're saying. And I'm saying that maybe if he pitched a little faster (lower pitch counts, quicker innings) that the bats might pick him up more often.

I'm saying that's crazy talk.

Oh really? Have you eve played baseball before?

Go ask a fielder how much they hate playing behind a Steve Trachsel type, then get back to me.

I totally get (& buy into) what you're saying on the defensive side, but I guess I just can't see how it would necessarily carry-over to the offensive side. Admittedly, I only played baseball up through high school... If a player is carrying his angst over a slow pitcher w/ him up to the plate, dude needs to simply sack-up & get over it, IMO.

#1 - That post was extremely confusing. The moral of the story helped however.

#1a - I didn't base one thing I said off personal experience. I was a pitcher, not a position player.

#2 - I said "Go ask a fielder". I have been told numerous times (and heard great baseball minds say) that playing behind a pitcher who is slow and doesn't get the fielders involved is very difficult. It is extremely hard to stay in the game and on your toes when you have someone like that on the mound.

Baseball is a game of rhythm. Now I'm not saying that this is 100% effective scenario because obviously it's not, but over the course of time I'd be willing to bet that pitchers like that tend to get a little less run support than faster pitchers.

Don't take me seriously, I'm just being a jackass

Well, I don't necessarily think it's angst so much as it is just loss of focus.

But yes, a slow pitcher definitely hurts themselves defensively (more so than runs being scored for him).

But anyways; I'm getting ready to leave work and head home and to the game. Let's have tonight's outcome be better than Monday's please. I actually think Monday was my first loss in the last 7 games attended (but my dad was with me and they only win when he's there if he's not in my seats).

Haha, nothing in that statement needs to be proved. Defenders flat out despise slow pitchers and tend to not make as many great plays behind them.

If this is "definitely" true it will be rather easily proved.

Don't bother with him/her goony. Reason and data will not pursuade people like him/her.

What are Moyer's splits against righties and lefties? I thought I heard that lefties hit him better. I might just be making this up though.

edit: just looked it up Lefties hit .022 higher than righties with a .005 higher OPS

FWIW, it was worth being called out by Modzilla to tell Keener what I thought of him

FWIW, your opinion of me is worthless, like 99% of the posts you make on here

which to me isnt enough of difference to outweigh the fact that Jones and Fontenots numbers vs lefties are horrible.
