I absolutely cannot buy it from the Royals' perspective (unless it's a precursor to another trade). From the Cubs' angle, sign me up.

If I knew for sure that Grienke was over his depression or S.A.D. or whatever it was, and knew he could handle a pennant race, it would free up Hill or Marshall to be dealt for an impact bat.

Zack is going nowhere. Dotel is as good as gone though, and it looks like there might be a buyer for Emil Brown--thankfully, that buyer is not the Cubs.
