Murton is getting screwed again.

Floyd is fair at best at the plate, atrocious in the OF, and hurt alot.

Fontenot should be battling Theriot for time in the middle INF, but Theriot is apparently untouchable.

DeRosa deserves a spot, and he should get it... in the INF. Take time from Font/Theriot and spell Lee or Aramis once a week or something.

This is a problem that will cost us games soon, unless we get a legit OF from a trade.

Even if you're winning now, having huge holes at C and RF/CF will get you. Take it to the bank.

Kim Bauer is the Archbishop of the Church of Murton?

Murton just got called up a couple days ago, and you guys are already having a hissy fit because he hasn't started?

The love for Murton is approaching the same zeal as the love for the long gone Choi.

Unless Murton's going to be dealt to get a serious bat, he deserves a chance to play in right every single day.

why? It's not tryout camp. He failed early and why should he replace anyone?

exactly. Murton was brought up to be a pinchhitter and an occassional starter. That is what he should be unless he proves himself differently.

Oh god. Compare last season's stats of our entire OF and tell me who the top three are. Until then, try to talk about something else. You may make sense that way.

I'm starting to get the feeling Murton will get traded, I really don't think Lou wants to play him at all for some reason...

I really really really like Matt Murton and I want him to be traded for this very reason. He's wasting away on the bench. Let him go somewhere that he will get the chance to play unless they are realistically expecting him to come back next year and get the starting RF job.

You seem to be the one not making any sense. You now have a manager that says if you hit you play. Matt didn't and isn't.

Using last year's stats, is totally meaningless. Gee, why not bring back Todd Walker?

On another note, do you post about topics that aren't Matt Murton?

How is this relevant? Right, it isn't. Attack the argument, not the poster. End of story.

Yes, no harm intended.

If previous seasons are meaningless, and stretches like Murton's get him benched, then Lee should've been benched for Ward sometime last month. Soriano and Floyd should've been benched for Pagan at various times during the season too.

uh, Lee does not equal Murton. Man, I like the kid, but some here need to get a clue. Murton is a utility guy who may become a starter if he improves. Get over it.

I'm just using the same terrible logic that's being applied to Murton. How is it different if we're to ignore previous seasons and "it's not a tryout" where you have to produce?

And you realize Murton produced as a starter in a full season last year, don't you? Murton isn't Pie, or Dubois, or Hill, or Choi, or whatever you want to compare him to. He's not an unknown, he produced at the big league level.

Bobby Hill, Jason Dubois, etc.

But.......I'm not trying to dismiss Murton. I do think he has the talent to get it done but he's become a victim of circumstance and it's just too late in the season to change that. Matt might be better off getting dealt at the deadline.

Murton could be a 4th outfielder on a team with three good ones, but we don't have that. Again, the anti-Murton crowd has generally failed to provide another answer as to who should be in RF most of the time. If your response is Cliff Floyd, then you should be aware that Murton's numbers in 2006 were better than Floyd's numbers this year, and his defense is also better.

Career major league numbers:

Matt Murton: 293/363/440

Hee Seop Choi: 240/349/437

Bobby Hill: 262/343/350

Jason Dubois: 233/286/443

Bad comparison.
