I don't really see how one at-bat or guys who are most certainly not going to be in the game are things worth noting. Just my opinion I guess.

Yeah, but the thing is, it's a lot quicker to leave everything in then to try to only selectively choose the ones that matter. It's not that he's taking extra time to include people like Wood, it's that he gets to take less time by leaving Wood on the list.

NSBB should cut his pay in half!!!!! ;)

... or Henry Blanco, Darryl Ward, and Jason Marquis?

Let Omar do his thing, he's good at it.

He just screen caps ESPN.com's matchup page ;)

It's probably the most organized one.

Yahoo only has stats since 1987... so it might leave out veteran match-ups.

But I might just switch to Baseball Reference... IMHO the most trusted baseball stats site.

I can't think of too many hitters and pitchers who have been around since 1986, you're probably safe using Yahoo if you wanted to.

Once again we call up a kid whos hot down in AAA, only to have him sit his ass on the bench. Why call Murton up if you arent going to use him?Same goes for Cedeno, there is no point in them being here, if they arent going to play.

Take a deep breath. Remember, at worst, the Cubs will have gained 2 games on the brewers since the break. That's 2 games in less than a month.

Progress. . . .steady progress.

Who on earth do you want benched for Cedeno?

I thought Murton was supposed to get the start today. Is he on his way out, or does Lou just really, really not like him?

+1, I'm comfortable with cedeno's current role.

I think Murton's gone this time

yeah, something is off. it's a little fishy that it was a "last minute" decision to put floyd in yesterdday. IMO given his health, he probably has scheduled off days like ramirez. the fact that murton isn't in the lineup today leads me to believe that hendry is probably telling lou that murton is in serious trade talks. murton just doesn't seem to be in their plans for the future for whatever reason. just my gut feeling on the situation.

I thought the plan was understood for him to start against all lefties and the occasional righty? what we've seen so far really doesn't go against that.

He was in the lineup yesterday, but was a late scratch and Bruce said he was supposed to get the start today because Lou would rather give Floyd the day off with the afternoon game after a night game.

Yeah, I mean I like Ronny; but I just think that with the way the team has been playing and at this point in the season, it's best to stick with what we have in Theriot for 85% or so of our SS starts.

If the Cubs trade Murton they had better get a good return for him, and not somebody like Payton or Wigginton. I'm by no means a Murton Fan Club member, but he put up pretty good numbers in his first full year in the majors and he is fairly cheap on the payroll for a few years.

hmmm... hadn't heard that entire story yet. thanks for the fill-in.

i still believe Lou knows what he's doing (or he at least is doing what he's doing on purpose, for whatever reason). But yes, it seems strange.

Could Bruce expand on what he's said so far? Obviously, he can't/won't say they're trying to trade him, but for example, what has Lou said about his lineups the last couple days?

Do Lou and Murton not see eye to eye?

Why people are inferring that just because Murton is sitting means they're going to trade him is beyond me. If the Cubs were "showcasing" him, they'd play him. Lou said he wanted to give Jones and Floyd the day off and that he wanted to play DeRosa. But he also wanted left-handed bats in there. Hence, Fontenot and Pagan. From talking to Cubs people as recently as last night, I don't believe any trade is imminent. That might change between now and Tuesday, but to link Murton not playing to him being traded doesn't necessarily hang together. Also, Lou is very direct and has a hard time playing the "trick the media and public" game by engaging in double talk. When he gives his reasons, he's been pretty consistently believable.
