It's worth noting that the I-Cubs were getting hammered when these guys were pulled.

 

Not really. They were facing a team with the second worst pitching in the PCL (5.20 ERA) had a man on first with two outs in the 4th and a 7-2 ballgame when Pie got pinch-hit for. That's not a situation where you would suddenly pull your starter because it was a blowout.

Also perhaps worth noting is that Matt Craig and Joseph Simonkaitis had not had ABs at AAA this year. Maybe the manager just thought a 7-1 game was a good time to start getting these guys some PT?

 

Ehh, pulling Pie and Kroeger when the game is still early doesn't make much sense, even to get guys AB's.

Not thru 3 innings. You don't pull guys after 3 innings, no matter what the score.

 

6 runs with 6 innings left is plenty of time.

 

especially considering that they had a run in that inning already. that's awfully early to give up, especially considering the offense iowa has right now.

DeRosa to Phillies for ? A trade with the Phillies makes a lot of sense right now as the Cubs have too many 2b especially with Patterson set to take over next year. Do the Phils still have a starter to deal? or do you guys still think Marquis is acceptable?

 

Cubs are not going to trade DeRosa.

 

How do you know? It would make sense for both sides as DeRosa is versatile enough to be useful to them when Utley returns. Do you have something to back up that statement, or is that just your opinion?

 

It's just common sense. DeRosa has been a very valuable player for the Cubs this year.

that likely means it was an injury or call up perhaps, I can't see it being anything huge, the I-Cubs manager wouldn't be announcing it.
