I know this shouldn't stop us from acquiring him, but boy do I not like Ryan Church as a person:

He sounds like a dumb guy with a good heart. Someone told him his ex-gf was doomed, he believed it, and was concerned. I'd question him as a person if the thought of her being doomed made him happy.

 

Baseball intelligence is all that matters to me. Babe Ruth and Joe Jackson weren't very bright individuals but they understood the game very well.

Okay, I had never noticed this before so I hope someone knows... why has Church only played 102 games in a season at the most? Is he injury prone? There's a 40 point difference in his OPS between righties and lefties for his career, which certainly doesn't seem to warrant a platoon. Edited July 31, 2007 by inari

RFK has really contained him.

 

His natural swing is right to the deepest part of the park. SLG is .444 away from home and .392 at home this year.

 

 

And his playing time issues are due to terrible management.

Both true, but those weren't a part of GaborBako's argument.

 

That said - I'd love to add Church and put him in CF if it can be done cheaply.
