Haven't ever gotten excited about Church.

The complimentary water tastes funny and they make you eat tiny cardboard coasters.

JC is back! Just in time for a really bad joke.

:P

The problem with good jokes is that people only remember the joke. Tell a bad joke, however, and people remember the lame jokester. Its better to be lame and remembered than funny and forgotten.

Or something...

This is Bowden that Hendry's dealing with. Now, who's a "toolsy" OF in A-ball that might be of interest?

Harvey!

LOL!! That'd be a way for Ryan to actually help this organization at least...

Haha, what a dope.

Anyway, I wonder if any other message boards will link this hot-breaking rumor on their message board?

Church for an A-baller seems like a steal, depending.

Yeah. It seems like all rumors these days come from message boards.

I know this shouldn't stop us from acquiring him, but boy do I not like Ryan Church as a person:

The players not only pray, but they also discuss personal matters -- marital tension, addiction issues, family illnesses, financial stress -- drawing sometimes surprising lessons. Church was concerned because his former girlfriend was Jewish. He turned to Moeller, "I said, like, Jewish people, they don't believe in Jesus. Does that mean they're doomed? Jon nodded, like, that's what it meant. My ex-girlfriend! I was like, man, if they only knew. Other religions don't know any better. It's up to us to spread the word."

He sounds like a dumb guy with a good heart. Someone told him his ex-gf was doomed, he believed it, and was concerned. I'd question him as a person if the thought of her being doomed made him happy.

Baseball intelligence is all that matters to me. Babe Ruth and Joe Jackson weren't very bright individuals but they understood the game very well.

....but I do gotta say, that's pretty dumb.

Thanks for the scoop, Derwood. Hopefully this one turns out true, as I've been a huge fan of Church (the ballplayer, not the person) for a good long while.

Okay, I had never noticed this before so I hope someone knows... why has Church only played 102 games in a season at the most? Is he injury prone? There's a 40 point difference in his OPS between righties and lefties for his career, which certainly doesn't seem to warrant a platoon. Edited by inari

Frank Robinson preferred guys like Nook Logan in his outfield to actual ballplayers.

Unless i'm reading this wrong, Church is 8th in the MLB in doubles

RFK has really contained him.

His natural swing is right to the deepest part of the park. SLG is .444 away from home and .392 at home this year.

And his playing time issues are due to terrible management.

We already have a Ryan Church, he is playing in Iowa.

Sure, except this Ryan Church bats lefty, can catch a flyball and score from third on a ball hit to shortstop.

The only valid argument in that post is that he is a left handed bat.

Plus he plays CF and hits for power when he isn't at RFK.

Both true, but those weren't a part of GaborBako's argument.

That said - I'd love to add Church and put him in CF if it can be done cheaply.
