My chances of making the top 50 just took a huge hit. I've lost my voice. It's all hoars and raspy. Considering my audition is about 24-hours from now, I'm not sure I can get it back in time.

If you don't get it back, I suggest trying a William Hung/Mike Ditka.

If I'm going gimmick, I may try to learn it in sign language between now and then....

or else hold up poster boards with the words as I smile really big.

But the Mike Ditka idea is a possibility.

Ok, I work for an opera company, so I know how divas deal with this issue!

1. stop talking!

2. gargle with salt water

3. drink LOTS of ice water. It will bring down the swelling in your cords.

4. tonight before you hit the sack, steam!

5. and keep drinking the water!

Good luck, Vance.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've stopped talking. I'm sucking throat longenges like those things are candy.

I'm drinking lots of water as well as taking some vitamins and started an anti-biotic in case it's something bacterial.

I'm doing the best I can, but considering I'm going to the game tonight before driving up in the morning...I might be toast.

We'll see. But again...thanks for the tips.

You could pull a Dwayne in "Little Miss Sunshine" and write on a notepad.

I predict...the judges loved Vance this morning (and his logo) and that he makes the cut.

Are you trying to hint at something here? :D

i was REALLY hoping someone from here would be the one chosen to perform... vance getting it would make perfect sense, as he fits the role of what they are asking perfectly.

Win or lose, I think it's pretty sweet that Vance got the opportunity to do this. He's pretty much the definition of 'die-hard'.

I had a great time...my voice wasn't all the way back, but I sang with gusto. I can't carry a tune, so I tried to make up for it with enthusiasm.

Whether I make it or not, it was fun to go. If I do make the cut, I expect votes from all of you.

Are you staying in Chicago tonight or on your way home?

I'm back in Edwardsville. We'll head back to Louisiana on Sunday.

When will you know if you've moved on?

Not sure. They said we'd receive an email letting us know if we did. I know the voting begins on Aug 6, so I'm guessing some time before then.

Probably one of the safest guesses one can have. :D

I went back and read on Cubs.com, and it appears I should know something on August 2.

I'll take "Hilariously Wrong" for $2000, Alex.
