All times CST.

D-Backs @ Brewers - 1:05 (Hernandez vs. Gallardo)

Cardinals @ Braves - 6:05 (Maroth vs. Hudson)

Phillies @ Padres - 9:05 (Hamels vs. Young)

Mets @ Dodgers - 9:10 (Glavine vs. Lowe)

Some awesome pitching match ups in the two late games tonight. I might actually watch the start of the Phillies game.

The Brewers face the D'Backs 4 times in a row and they miss Webb. Unbelievable.

Don't worry, we'll see the sinkerballer tomorrow (while we throw Jason Marquis out there!) He's 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA in 6 career starts against the Cubs.

I posted this in our game thread, but Hart and Hardy are sitting for today's game. The top of their lineup doesn't look nearly as good with Gwynn and Counsell up there.

I'm going to have a crisis of conscience tonight.

It would be better for us if the Cardinals beat the Braves, but rooting for the Cardinals goes against everything I've ever known.

I would rather hope the Braves help bury the cardinals behind us even further this season. I want them burried and dead in the standings.

the cards have some BAD pitchers on that staff. looks like the dollar store bargain bin can't always pay off.

Yup and with Carp gone for awhile now with TJS, who knows how soon it will be fixed. They sure didnt get alot out of that contract lol

The Glavine/Lowe pitcher's duel didn't exactly pay off. Mets leading the Dodgers 9-5 in the bottom of the third.

And the inning ends as Olmedo Saenz flies out to center with the bases loaded, Luis Gonzalez (I think) scores and Nomar is thrown out trying to advance to third.

9-6 Mets heading to the top of the fourth.

What benefits the Cubs most in this game by the way?

The Dodgers losing would benefit the Cubs more. That way even if San Diego wins tonight they move into a tie with the Dodgers for the Division/Wild Card, and that would make it easier for the Cubs to possibly move up in the WC race this weekend.

Dang, first I had to root for the Cardinals, now I have to root for the Mets.

At least I get to listen to Vin Scully while doing it. :)

I really don't understand what happened to Barrett's patience all of a sudden. He hasn't drawn a walk since June 9th. That's 88 AB's in a row now without a single walk. That's a very, very long streak for a guy who hasn't been awful in the patience department for quite a while.

Only 4 hits in the Phillies-Padres game through 7 btw-it certainly has lived up to its billing as a pitchers duel.

Mets are winning 10-6 in the top of the 5th. Padres still winning 1-0 in the top of the 8th.
