I wonder if Zambrano's lack of hustle on his last at-bat played any importance in Lou's decision to pull him before he finished 5 innings. Or was that probably irrelevant? I actually didn't see his at-bat, it went by so fast...

I hope you're joking?

i'm guessing he was telling Z that his day was done. I have a hard time believing that a manager is going to chew out his star pitcher for not busting it down to first with a nine run lead.

It's been awhile since Z had a sub-100 pitch game.

Considering we're going to need Zambrano down the stretch, I really like this move.

All of a sudden, Ramirez having the day off has become a brilliant move too.

Of course the 7BB had something to do with the loss, but you're forgetting that those BBs can also be placed squarely on the shoulders of Kendall, whose game-calling abilities have obviously been way over-hyped.

so apparently catcher's ERA is not a bogus stat!

You guys remember when Dusty would unnecessarly leave his stud starting pitchers in with huge leads?

Me too.

Thank god Lou doesn't.

Mark Prior and Kerry Wood's arms remember as well

You don't want your pitcher to hustle in that situation, especially if he's going to go back out there and pitch.

This lead prevents Z from getting a QS.

Lewis out to CF. 1 down

What does our offensive production have anything to do with QS's?

Z only had 80 pitches so if it was a close game he would have stayed in for another inning or two.

Not at all. In fact, we need to adopt catcher's W-L records and implement a catcher's CYA every season.

Koyie Hill must have Brewer fans saying are you kidding me...just like how i say it everytime i see that damn tony graffanino, craig counsell, and damien miller have these types of days

Or the same feeling I get when I see Corey Hart, JJ Hardy, and Ryan Braun hit homer after homer.

You mean like leaving Prior in for over 120+ pitches with a 12-3 lead in Game 2 of the NLCS??

It doesn't. His point is that Z would still be pitching if it was 2-0 right now.

Not joking, but I was curious because I was distracted and completely missed seeing that part of the game. I agree, it would have been bizarre for it to happen like that. Then again, the way this game has been going so far ....

His game calling abilities have been overhyped? Or possibly this was his first time working with Cubs pitchers ever and he probably had only 3 hours of pre-game to go over a game plan most batteries have had spring training and all year?
