I don't think he looks sickly either. He looks very, very good IMO. I'll bet his wife likes him better this way too

Well damn it to hell. I'm starting to get excited about this now 8-)

Same here. I think he looks great. Less puffy...

First time he comes in a game and walks 3 straight batters then gives up 3 doubles it's going to be tough to not tear up.

Happy Kerry Wood day. I don't expect much out of the gate, but I'm happy to see him get a chance. I anxiously await seeing him take the mound for the first time.

I can't really think of anything better than seeing Wood contribute down the stretch of a pennant race. In my weaker moments, I find myself day dreaming about him closing out game 7 of the WS. That would be about the greatest thing I could imagine.

cautiously optimistically fixed.

Why does this thread bear a copyright symbol?

Probably some sort of joke about how we've frequently needed "Kerry Wood Update" threads, since he gets hurt so much.

I don't think a player has existed in any sport who I've had a bigger man-crush on that Kerry Wood.

ditto.

Sporting the Kerry Jersey today for the first time in a long while. 8-)

Just got back from vacation. Glad to see he made it through rehab.

I hope I can see him return live on national tv tomorrow night, it'd be the perfect return.

did lou forget that Kerry is in the bullpen, fresh and ready?! I have TiVo'd the last two games in hopes to catch Kerry pitching. I don't get many Cubs games down here since I live close to St. Louis... PUT HIM IN LOU! I wanna see the crowd go crazy!

I'll be TICKED if I don't get to watch Kerry Wood enter the game and see the crowd go nuts and just... yeah... i can't put it into words.

I was at today's game, and I was disappointed that he wasn't used. He could have been used when Lilly was taken out; a 4-run lead would be a good time for his return, since there wouldn't be much pressure. He hasn't pitched sinc Tuesday, so it's not like he'd be tired. If he wasn't read to go on Friday he shouldn't have been activated then.

my thoughts exactly. Lou doesn't want his first outing to be a high pressure one... well today was the perfect time for that. What if tomorrow is a close nail biter? He's already said he won't throw dempster against the mets again... now wood will go 4+ days without pitching. Good job there guys

I also could've sworn that Marmol was going to be unavailable today. So then he puts him in a situation when we have a 4 run lead. That was the only thing that really was disappointing about today's game. Using Marmol and Howry in a situation where they weren't needed was completely useless. Wood hasn't pitched since Tuesday, so today wouuld have been the perfect time for him to get work in.

lou bugs the hell out of me. what was he waiting for, a more relaxed situation? why not just keep him at iowa for the rest of the year, lou? that's where you like to keep pie and murton, right?

the thing about this game is that the radio guys were going on and on about how lilly saved the bullpen. he DIDN'T save the bullpen, rather, he tried to save the bullpen, but lou just put in the 2 guys that he normally does instead of resting them a bit and pitching wood or someone who could have actually used the work.

He threw a couple curve balls that were just filthy. Good to see him back. I stood and cheered when he was out there, and I was alone in my living room. John Miller ruined a great Cub moment by saying the ovation was for Glavine though. He corrected himself and they showed the Wood ovation after the commercials, but I was upset by that, because I wanted to see how the crowd greeted him. I was at the game yesterday praying he'd get in, but it just wasn't in the cards apparently.

I was at the game today. The crowd was absolutely electric whenever Kerry started to get up and stretch. It was great seeing him get some action.

The crowd was really looking for something to cheer about -- it got loud as ever once we made a game of it before Ohman's appearance.
