If only one million, then that would clear up about 6 or 7 million for this year and next.

Griffey is set to make 6 million next year(the rest is deferred)....interesting

I thought the Cubs couldn't take on salary past his year.

No one really knows if Hendry has the authority to add payroll, or how much.

Hmm.

But no, according to one source it says we'll pay "most of his contract"

Either way, I dont care. I'm just glad he's gone.

too bad this didn't happen before the NSBB touney... maybe reds44 would get some more votes

yea right

He wasn't in the tourney. That was a cards fan.

No, he was in the tourney, I remember that he lost by a huge margin. There was more than one non-Cub fan in the tourney.

EDIT: 5th place. Too wordy.

Maybe I would have had a chance against him. Instead everyone voted for the puppy killer, cardinal and hawkeye fan Bob "Reggie" Sanders.

Thanks for nuthin.

Sincerely,

BitterHere

why the crap is Rotoworld's take on this a POSITIVE one for Florida?

Because they got two players AND money and we got an A ball player.

In all honesty, we probably did get the worst end of the deal, but Its really worth it in the end.

because they're picking up a guy that was decent last year for what probably will be very little.

I'm sorry Reds, I have to be the last holdout here. I'll still give you credit if you're right, but this still doesn't make sense.

Game time is in two hours. If JJ has been traded, he won't be in the clubhouse. Everyone will know. But that's not being reported. To the contrary, Rogers just said a few minutes ago that Jones was at the park and had not been notified of any deal. So what gives?

but Rotoworld's details are sketchy. They don't say 2 for 1 or how much money is moving. Still, it amounts to getting nothing for nothing. It's not like playing in the vast Dolphin Stadium will help Jock's power outage

Any word on the returns or the salary ramifications? I'm assuming it'll be something along the lines of Dontrelle Willis for Jones with us picking up half of Jones salary.

I've seen Greensboro play several times, they don't have the best pitchers in the world.

I know i know, who cares, we got rid of Jones! Just looking forward to seeing which pitcher we pick up.

The Marlins are short on outfielders unlike the Cubs. They really have nothing to lose by playing him and plenty to gain. It's like if a SS who had recent success but had fallen off the table this year got traded to the Cubs-at worst it's an even trade for them. This is a great example of a win-win deal for both squads.

Plus they said he was a stopgap. He is not their future, and it won't matter because the Marlins aren't going anywhere this year.

Assuming the deal happened...

Since it's happening so late, who are they going to replace Jock with on the roster? Don't they also need to notify that 6th bullpen arm that he has to come up and most likely pitch tonight?

Uh, if we're going to pay for part of Jacque's salary we better get more than that.

He was most likely already there.
