I'm having a hard time believing that any team has any interest in Jacque Jones.

Rotoworld also seems to think he'll be gone soon:

Jacque Jones, who hasn't started since Wednesday, could be traded in the next 24 hours.

''I'm not worried about it,'' said Jones. ''If it happens, it happens. If not, I'll be ready to play.'' The Rangers, Padres, and White Sox reportedly have showed interest in acquiring Jones.

apparently the Mets have interest too...

Daily Herald[/url]"]The Cubs will have to shed a position player to make room for a 12th pitcher. A trade of right fielder Jacque Jones would be the ideal situation for the Cubs, if they can find a taker (perhaps the New York Mets).

Mets fans are really fretting over their OF situation. Alou, Beltran and Green have all been banged up, while most think Alou is completely done. They've had a couple kids up but none of them have done much. I could definitely see them having interest in Jones.

Hey Omar traded Kazmir for Zambrano so who knows what they would fork over... :)

Me too. Alou is ancient and Green gets injured every other year. I've always thought the Mets would be a possibility. They might be in the running for Griffey as well though.

That was Steve Phillips I believe.

Actually, it was Jim Duquette.

Not much of an update on the Score, just "The Cubs are hosting the Rockies tonight where Jacque Jones could be traded before the first pitch"

A lot of people seem to think hes finally leaving.

Please let this be the case.

I would prefer to keep the 2006 version of Jacque Jones, but that guy seems long gone.

Im leaving for work soon. I fully intend on checkin in at work about every 23 seconds to see if he's been traded yet.

If Hendry can dump Jones by the end of the day, and actually get a living breathing human being in return not named Neifi Perez or Jose Macias, I won't make fun of him for a whole week.

Isn't that the guy who gave him a backloaded 3/16 deal? If you don't make fun of him for a week, I'll pick up the slack.

I anticipated someone would.

The whole Jacque signing is contingent on this trade. If Hendry manages to get a decent player and/or relief from the contract, then the signing goes in the books as a decent one, possibly even a pretty good one. If he can't and Jacque continues to be a liability on this team and the Cubs keep paying his contract, the signing can quickly become a bad one, even with him being a pretty decent bargain last year.

It already is a bad one. He can make it less bad by getting rid of him.

It is bad this year. Last year, he gave us above average production for a very reasonable salary. I don't think 2 1/2 months of poor production completely destroys that if he and his contract are traded soon. I'd call it a wash.
