I was listening to the Score on my way to the Cell and one of their reporters said that Michael Barrett was the one that told the media about the players only meeting. I think it was the Chicago Tribune Cubs beat writer that said this. He said this on the Mike North Morning Show. He said this was the reason Barrett got traded.

I don't want to make 2 topics so I will combine this one with the other one.

I don't know if anyone was on the 3rd base line in the upper deck but there was a HUGE brawl there during the 8th inning. Everyone was standing up watching it and I saw from the left field upper deck people punching each other. Security was very slow getting there and it went on for like 5 minutes. Anyone sitting near there?

I don't understand. Why would this be a problem?

I am not sure, I didn't get the whole thing. All I know is they called him a mole.

I didn't get the whole story. I am sure someone hear was listening to it.

What does "Fight today in Up" mean?

It was suppose to say Fight today in upper deck but it was too long. For a better description Al from BCB:

There was a pretty good fight in the right-field upper deck in the later innings that many, bored with the action on the field, decided to watch instead. Security, after a short delay, took care of that incident.

Mole?

This is Cubs baseball. Not an episode of 24. It may be just as sad and dramatic.

Seriously I am not lying. I was cracking up in my car when I heard them calling Barrett a mole.

That's why I like to choose ESPN 1000 over the Sox Network.

I bet Paul Sullivan doesn't know what he is talking about.

They made such a big deal about this.

Who cares if Barrett leaked out the players only meeting to the media.

It amazes me that every time players get traded these smear campaigns come out. Next we'll have Jacque traded and we'll start hearing that he was sleeping with Izturis' wife or something. Why is there so much drama?

At least Jones would be hitting on something.

Its almost like the Cubs feel obligated to explain to fans why certain players are traded. What bothers me is the smear campaign before the trade that helps lower their trade value.

I'd be very, VERY surprised if a reporter unmasked a "mole" in the clubhouse. It would make any other player leery about talking with that reporter, either on or off the record.

Bet it's nothing more than the usual sports talk radio diarrhea.

Paul Sullivan (not a surprise) was the reporter that made the accusation that Barrett was the one who leaked the info to ESPN.

Who gives a... crap? Is there something wrong with a player letting the media know that the team held a meeting? Barrett got traded because he told Paul Sullivan that the Cubs players talked about some stuff? Yeah, okay.

Barrett didn't tell Paul Sullivan anything. Paul admitted he was "speculating" when he made that statement yesterday. One person with the Cubs, who has no ax to grind, said that kind of stuff defames Barrett. A person close to Barrett said Michael was very hurt by that accusation. It's too bad crap like this gets started in the first place.

I once saw Barrett spit on a baby. True story.

Yep, then corey patterson walked up to him and refused to give him an autograph.

And then later after that, Moises Alou walked to Barrett and urinated on Barrett's hands.

And LaTroy Hawkins just laughed and laughed as he set a bus full of nuns on fire.

I'm not going to assume this is true if it was just speculation on Sullivan's part.

However hypothetically IF this were true, how can some of you think there's no problem with it? It was a player's only meeting and what was said there was supposed to stay there. The players know exactly who was there and what was said and if it was leaked, then it had to have been a teammate.

That's why Cliff was angry and said that if they found out who leaked it to the media, he should be sent packing.

I know many of you like to think that players are like robots and it doesn't matter if they all hate each other's guts, but that's not reality. That's not to say that baseball is like football or basketball where it's a true team sport and chemistry is important. They're still humans and outside things affect performance or create undesirable tension.

He was feuding with the manager, his defense was getting worse, he's getting old in catcher years, he and our ace threw blows, he's in his free agent year. And if he allegedly leaked this stuff, he lost the trust and respect from many of his teammates. That's a lot of things adding up to create the end result.

And that's the story, kids. Thanks for clearing that up Bruce.
