Tom Hicks is trying to become the biggest boob ever to own the Rangers. And considering how well the incumbent is doing as President, it may be a long haul.

I dont think the Commish is going to be too happy with his comments. I think the MLPBA even less so. Maybe the beginning of the end for his tenure down in Texas.

They're not going to fire an owner for saying that... let alone, how does one fire a baseball owner anyway? But he's a moron, most of his team was probably on steroids... if you're going to be pissed that you got ripped off by Juan Gone, than also be pissed off that the thoroughly-juicy Rafael Palmeiro put up HoF-caliber numbers for your team. Or that Pudge enhanced his power numbers with roids. Can probably throw Dean Palmer in there too. And those are just the more obvious ones.

You dont fire owners. You just make it very difficult for them to get anything done until they give up. This is one of the main reasons that Baseball interviews potential owners and has to approve any sale of a team. b/c it aint easy or pleasant getting rid of a silly owner- like a Marge Schott.

Ask Mark Cuban if he feels any heat from the league office.

Edit: The Commish does have the power to heavily fine a team for something like this. This might be a nice 6 figure gaffe.

I don't see why the league, or Selig, would care about this.

B/c this is baseball.

There are things you dont talk about in public or go on record for- just like in the Army.

This is one of those no-no subjects.

Upper management in baseball is very much an old school closed society.

Additionally, the Union will probably file a grievance over this. So there will have to be a lot of legal maneuvering and other shenanigans going on that Baseball would not have had to deal with.

I'm not surprised that Jaun possibly be roided up.

He was really good when he was on that stuff, and when he stopped, his career fell apart in a hurry.

I was actually looking up his stats a few days ago. Forgot what for, though. That whole Rangers team was juiced. Lest we not forget the juiciest player of all, Jose Canseco, was on the team then

I bet that after a short lived mini controversy, nothing much comes of it at all.

Sounded more like he said "probably" as a precautionary measure. He talked about how he got off the roids rather firmly trhen seemed like he realized he said something dumb and backed it up with "probably"

When I first saw the thread title, I thought Juan was invovled in sometime of sterioid smuggling scandle with some southern hillbillies.

Could we throw Kapler in there too?
