I want Marmol closing as soon as Dempster either has his contract run out or loses effectiveness. As it is he should be the 2nd setup man with Howry.

I wouldn't mind seeing Marmol start.

eh, too wild...walks killed him...he's a two pitch pitcher and much more effective for an inning or two

As long as he keeps Eyre from coming in to the game, I have all kinds of man-love for him.

Agreed..plus his velocity is better as a reliever, which makes him quite a bit more effective. I think he's going to continue to be a really good reliever though.

I'm just hoping Eyre doesn't eat him!

Then I wouldn't mind seeing him close games. He certainly has closer stuff.

love dero....yeah i agree with you there....marmol is a bad man, but i like the idea of gettin his feet wet in the pen for a year then maybe next year tryin to go to him...or end of this year

DeRo's a hell of a bargain.

The only thing the bothers me about DeRo is that he could block Patterson.

If he continues hitting like he has this year, I could care less.

Yeah, that does seem to be the Cubs plan with Marmol. They've been saying that they want him eventually to be a great closer since the offseason. I really think so too-I have no problem with Dempster right now, but I like how they've put Marmol in some key spots these past couple weeks. I certainly hope they don't put him back as the long man when Gallagher goes back down (which I assume will happen eventually)
