Probably spelled wrong. What did San Diego give Texas for this guy. He was pretty solid last year in his first full year. This year he has an OPS over 9, looks good defesively and is 25 yrs old. Also seems to kill the Cubs. Maybe one of baseballs more underrated up and comers.

Gonzalez and C. Young for Otsuka and Eaton I believe.

Edit: So yes, quite the steal.

I didn't look this up to be sure and could be wrong, but I think he was part of the Chris Young for Adam Eaton trade. That was one bad trade for Texas if I remember right.

In another thread, I was going to post this morning "how is Texas always so terrible?" Then it's pointed out that they make trades like this and it all becomes clear.

Have you seen their line up and rotation? They seem to like getting rid of the good players and keeping the marginal players. Not sure how Young and Tex have managed to keep their jobs in Texas this long.

This is the same team that traded Travis Hafner and Aaron Myette for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese.

It's the same team that signed Chan Ho Park for a ridiculous amount of money.

Traded Alex Rodriguez for Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias.

Well they are trying to trade Tex.

To be fair, Chris Young was a huge flyball pitcher, and everyone knows that the Texas stadium is a launching pad, so that would likely have never worked at all.

Also, Adrian Gonzalez was blocked by Tex at first base, and had experienced real troubles adjusting to MLB pitching.

In 2004 he hit .304/.364/.457 with the AAA team. Got called up and hit .238/.273/.381 in 44 ABs.

In 2005 he hit .338/.399/.561 with the AAA team. Got called up and hit .227/.272/.407 in 162 ABs.

That might explain a bit.

Actually that explains that Texas was stupid for trading a guy who hit like that in the minors after only 200 ML at bats.

Especially because he was only 22 and 23 those years.

I know this is foreign thinking for most but young players do take some time to adjust to major league pitching. It is the last level of development. Too many think they are done once they have arrived from AAA.

That is signature worthy right there.

Im confused, as that is basically what I was saying by stating it was stupid for Texas to trade him after 200 ML at bats.

Yeah I was basically agreeing. Just pointing out that not only fans but some baseball people treat young talent. An example would be the Cubs. He would probably been gone with us after 200 ML ABs with that kind of production.
