just noticing who the Brewers will be facing. against the Twins, they miss Santana. hell, they don't even get Silva. Bonser and two rookies.

then they go onto San Fran. they miss Cain and Morris.

then to KC. they get Bannister, but miss Meche.

then to Houston. if Houston doesn't skip a starter on their off day, the Brewers will miss Oswalt and Samson, but will get Jennings. if Houston does skip a starter on their off day, the Brewers get Oswalt, but miss Samson and Jennings.

ETA - just carrying it through, looks like they will miss Snell in their four game set against the Bucs, like they have in both series they have had against the Bucs so far this year (only faced Gorzealanny once).

pull the damn horseshoe out of your ass Brewers.

And then the Cubs lose two of three to the Padres.

The Padres are the best team we will be playingon this 21 game stretch. By quite a bit, too.

Which is definitely a good thing.

11-5 since this thread was posted....if we hadn started that out 2-4 we'd be in even better shape....the 3 weeks isn't over...but we've got a good start on it.

We didn't really gain any ground on Milwaukee though.

Perhaps we haven't really gained on Milwaukee, but the key is to just keep winning games. The gain in the standings will come, either against Milwaukee or in the wildcard, provided the Cubs keep on winning.

Right now, the Cubs should be focused on getting to about 5 games over .500.

No, but I think we've jumped 3 teams in the Wild Card race...and that's saying something....

The Cubs can't control what the Brewers do - only try and win their own games.

I'll take 11-5 every 16 games for the rest of the season. 8-)

LA, AZ, and ATL don't impress me very much. If we just concentrate on winning in July, I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see us jump on top of that wild card race.

The Crew probably won't slow down, they're real good, are getty Cappy back, have an easy schedule, hit really well, blah blah. Too many reasons I can think of they won't slide. Hope they do, but I'm not counting on it. Not winning the division doesn't have to be the death knell of our season, though.

Definitely true. Several Wild Card teams have won the World Series in recent years.

I was always running under the impression that the Wild Card wasn't practical, but I can't stand by that anymore. I think the Wild Card might be the way to go at this point. I certainly think we'll pass the Braves and Phillies, given that they have a tougher schedule. The NL West teams? Gotta hope they will beat up on each other.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us win the Wild Card.

Don't worry, Sheets will go down eventually.

There are plenty of reasons to think the Brewers will fail in the 2nd half but hoping that a SP who has had one major injury in past 7 years is probably not the proper reason. Just because it spanned the end of one season and the start of another does not make him injury prone.

1 major injury? Not injury prone?

Ben Sheets injury info:

- In 2005, he was put on the disabled list with a muscle tear in his upper back.

- In 2004, he had postseason surgery on his back to repair a herniated disk.

- In 2001, he was put on the disabled list with tendinitis in his right rotator cuff.

And thats not including the shoulder problems hes had in 2006.
